This week saw Cali dream-pop band Trails and Ways finally get around to releasing their long-awaited EP Trilingual , and while most of the mini-set lands as a compilation of the greatest (blog) hits that have helped earned the act tons of on-line praise over the past year, Trails have also been kind enough to give longtime followers a new bone by including within the collection the never-before-released "Tereza". As with all things T&W up to this point, "Tereza" comes armed with its own exotic, continent-hopping inspiration (this time transporting us [...]

If you've been keeping up with Trails and Ways ' releases, I hope that you've noticed their range of sound of influence. First off, everyone in the band sings, and they get their fair share of the spotlight on separate tracks. They're like a modern Fleetwood Mac. The singer may always be different, but you know it's Trails and Ways when you hear it. "Tereza" is the last release of the Trilingual EP. The song easily blends classic dream pop, indie pop, and bossa nova styles together, creating an upbeat, yet surprisingly chill piece of work. Download [...]

Colors define reality. Dullness becomes hysteria. Do you see color when you listen to the sounds that resonate most in your head? Do you see hot reds and oranges when listening to rock, and grainy blues and greens when listening to folk? Waves of sound become intensely hued. The best sounds make me feel. I view my emotions in color. Trails and Ways on the web | Facebook

MP3: Trails and Ways - "Como Te Vas?" When a question becomes an answer, or when an answer becomes a question, how do you know where it all starts and where it all ends? You may not believe it -- may not want to believe it -- but one divergent path will always find its way back to where you've been before. Life is a cyclical maze -- in many respects a result our own creation and in many respects a result of fate's will. Take for example the past: [...]

Before Trails and Ways arrive in NYC in a few weeks time, we can celebrate the fact of their brand new song “Como Te Vas”. Translated to ‘how are you leaving?’, the track features a groovy backbeat, plenty of handclaps and all of the energy of a party down by the beach. This would be ideal to listen to this in a convertible as the sunset is approaching. The diversity of sound of such a well-cultured band is just remarkable. Trilingual will be out next week on Non-Market Records.

So Trails and Ways have embarked on a US/Canada tour and are gearing up for their Trilingual EP, due out next week (6/11). I think it's safe to say that big things are in the band's horizon. They've previously released a couple of successful singles, as well as the excellent Detornar-se remix EP. To prep us for the next week's release, we've been treated with this new single, "Como Te Vas". Much like the rest of Trails and Ways' music, this new track pulls from their Spanish heritage and is properly [...]

California four-piece Trails and Ways have become something of a favourite of ours. Their infectiously sunny melodies have made previous singles - 'Mtn Tune', 'Border Crosser' and 'Nunca' - joys to behold that pitch them somewhere between Vampire Weekend and Local Natives, if both were even sunnier than they already are. The group are readying the release of their new EP, Trilingual , on the 11th June and have just unveiled further single, 'Come Te Vas'. Ian from the band explains the meaning behind the song: "It's i nspired by Emma's last days before leaving Spain, cold-water [...]

Trails and Ways have been prepping the release of their upcoming debut album, Trilingual , due out sometime this year. To make the wait a little bit more bearable, the band put together this remix EP titled, Detornar-se . In case you were wondering, Detornar-se is Portuguese reflexive verb that double translates to "un make" as well as détournement, which is a variation of a previous work of media. I think it's safe to say that this EP has been properly titled. Compiled of remixes from producers ranging from Oakland to Mexico to London, Detornar-se [...]

Not too long ago, I featured Trails and Ways single, "Border Crosser" . I begged the band to keep me updated with their music, and that they have. On January 8th, the group is set to release their remix EP. Last week, the Seshen's remix of "Border Crosser" dropped, and today we're treated with Highweights' remix of Nunca. Both remixes are some highly polished pieces of work. The Seshen, out of Oakland ,brings their unique style of electronic R&B to the remix of "Border Crosser" with pulsing synths and an all around sexy vibe packed with energy. [...]

I've played this song at least 20 times since I first heard it yesterday. I was going to play it for a friend of mine last night and he instantly said, "You haven't heard of Trails and Ways? Border Crosser is such a good song." I guess I'm late to hop on the bandwagon. I don't know if it's the whistles or the roaring train, but this track effortlessly sets a scene of the frontier and is supported even more by Trails and Ways' storytelling. Border Crosser is written by the band's singer, KBB, as a love letter between his [...]

Trails & Ways have been on our radar for a little while now, having crafted two wonderful indie-pop songs in the form of 'Nunca' and 'Mtn Tune'. Well now there's a third. Written by their singer KBB as a love letter between his grandparents circa 1942, the tune plays heavily on the mixing pot of cultures that lots of the Western world now possesses. With the single also comes the news that the group will release their debut album, Trilingual , early next year. We'll keep you posted. Listen to 'Border Crosser' below. [...]

Trails and Ways has been blowing up on the blogosphere the past month or two, and for good reason. Their sound is just pleasing to the ears... both male and female vocals layered with care on top of each other, and that bossanova and dreampop vibes just sends chills down my back. We made a post for "Mtn Tune" by them a few months back, and if you missed it, feel free to check it out here . According to the band's press release: The track "Border Crosser" is immigration dreampop in [...]

Yeah girl, get some of that new Trails and Ways down there below this arbitrary type. Personally, this is one of my favorite break through bands of the year. I love their originals just as much as their covers. Their tunes have positive messages about how to treat both humans and nature kindly, and this specific song "Border Crosser" was written to support the National Network for Immigrant and Refugee Rights. Not only is it a great track featuring their signature bossa nova beats and smooth harmonies but it starts and [...]

From the hazed-over sublime of "Nunca" and "Mtn Tune" to an amazing cover of Miguel's "Sure Thing" , Oakland's Trails and Ways have been responsible for some pretty fab indie sounds in recent months, and with a new album ( Trilingual ) planned for release early next year, it's looking like the masses will have plenty new T&W gorgeousness to get them by well into 2013. Trilingual 's first single "Border Crosser" was put up for free download yesterday and it lands as yet another enchanting dream-pop [...]

I've been on team TRAILS AND WAYS since early last summer. Their smooth tropical sounds went perfectly with a PBR or a next day hangover. Yesterday they released their latest single Border Crosser, a beautiful dreampop track about a love letter between a band member's grandparents circa 1942. Here's hoping they make it out to Vancouver sometime soon, because dis bb is in love. posted by @clarkbs
Rarely do I crave to prance around on my tip-toes more than when I listen to the new single from Trails and Ways. It would look like this, perfectly in time with the guitar sparkles, and I would keep my knees at at 90 degree angle and everything. It would be majestic; like a flamingo hopping. [...]
