Allone - Flow This song title couldn’t be more accurate in the way it passes to you all these striking, warm felt emotions. Greek producer Allone lets his psych pop tendencies to guide him into a tropical seizure of an undisputed truth about how the psychedelic sound collides into the electronic forms. Chaotic like Panda Bear in a trance, this newcomer shows himself in an open ambient wave with his soft, whispering vocals cherrishing your ears like an intimate aura of a welcome [...]

A Quick Word from the Author: I made a joke to a friend the other day that the Indie Sabbath is a bit like The Daily Show with Jon Stewart—as in we both go on random hiatuses for extended periods of time, only to return for a bit and joke about our absence. It's a recurring pattern that I hate as much as the rest of you, but school, jobs, and my major work with Earmilk often gets in the way. Luckily however, summer is coming [...]

And we're back! We've been on a slight hiatus as we ventured down to the desert for an absolutely epic week at Coachella, but we made it back in one piece and just in time to deliver some hot new selections for our seventh installment of The Jam Jar . We're going deep, disco, and funky this week – capturing those moments of pure bliss on the dancefloor and bringing you a bevy of party-worthy house vibes. This round kicks off with some amazing work on The Knocks & St. Lucia's new tune Modern Hearts from [...]

Benin City - My Love Hailing from London, the world/tropical/psych/hip hop trio of Benin City made a striking impression with their newest single My Love . Joshua Idehen ’s spoken rhymes dresses this psychedelic and tropic musical road trip with an exotic outfit that raises the urban experience of My Love into a weird yet familiar pop lecture! Named after a Nigerian state capital, Benin City ’s sound approaches Fool’s Gold Afro pop influences [...]

While we wait for summer and those long walks on the beach, let's listen to the new tune by Satin Jackets . I'm not going to waste time talking about the man, we have a full interview with him |check here| . Don't get me wrong, we love his work, and we can't get enough of it. "Only you" features Patrick Baker working on the vocals, again in a class of his own, as we can attest by his recent collaboration with 5 Reasons on "Night Drive in Moscow" |listen here| . [...]

Ever since I first heard Tropics ' debut album on Planet Mu (20112s 'Parodia Flair') I've always kept an ear to the ground, wondering what Chris Ward was up to. Consistently putting out high quality productions, it wasn't until this afternoon when I heard 'You Don't Know' that I felt he had recaptured the glory of his debut. Despite my love of his first album, one thing I really love about 'Don't You Know' is that it's really quite different from what marked him out as an artist. The hazy cloud [...]

With a new mellow and somewhat emotional track "Don't You Know," Chris Ward who goes by Tropics, delivered something perfect for a breezy afternoon. While we only get a short listen of his vocals in the track, the slight tough of singing is all the track needed. From there, it kicks into a jazz and keyboard heavy sound with a vocal sample that completes the touch. Great Saturday song and you'll find this on his upcoming Home & Consonance EP , out April 23. Fresh? [...]
The fact that Chris Ward aka Tropics' own voice appears only fleetingly in "Don't You Know" make them all the more powerful. The track starts with a gently jazzy feel, but evolves and morphs as mellow keyboards rise and fall before Ward's emotion-filled vocals tell us "my body can take no more." The use of a wistful vocal sample only adds to the slow moving beauty of a song which floats serenely, unobtrusively past, like a speck of dust in a sunlit study. "Don't You Know" is on Tropics' Home & Consonance EP , out April 23.
We mentioned Bronx the other day, the producer from Mexico who did a great remix for 5 Reason . Here's his latest offering "She was gone", taken from his free download EP "Sunday" . Perfect poolside tropical disco. Ah, we DO long for summer now...

Somewhat like a primeval El Guincho this is nothing less than the perfect distillation of tropical electronica. The words are rendered meaningless for the non-Spanish speaking amongst us but it matters not a jot because ‘Cuantas Caras’ is all about the feeling and tonight that feeling is one of total joyful inebriation. Julio Gudiño plays in a Mexican indie band but by night he drives this colourful vehicle which already has a full album, Expansión, of likeminded psych swirls to its name. This’ll be stuck on repeat until the sun comes up. KD [...]

Tropics.

Henry Krinkle is a producer originally from South Florida, now based out of Shanghai, who recently came across our radar and we've been completely hooked on ever since. His style is a blend of exactly what you'd expect to hear from both locations, blissful vibes mixed with next level beats in a refreshingly original manner. Most recently he remixed ViLLΛGE's Wanna Tell You dubbing it 'Lush Haus', and though genres really have no weight or boundaries these days, we feel the word lush is pretty on point here. The deep tropical beats ooze a sun-kissed, sensual vibe that is [...]
This is inspired music. For such a newcomer to the electronic world, Spanish beatmaker Sau Poler has created a quasi-masterpiece for his first release ever. Poler only started making music one year ago, simply as a way to explore his needs and to have some fun. Influenced by artists like Aphex Twin, Boards Of Canada, Four Tet, Bonobo and all sorts of genres (mainly hiphop and electronica), he managed to create his very own style, embodied in this first release, "A Soundless Echo." Though [...]

We recently got a tip from Jad Lee (part of the Mitzi band) to check out some music his friend Brett Mass has produced. While we don't have much information about his background at the moment, I can tell you Brett's first EP is quite nice. Below, you can stream the title track from the EP, "Harp City". The whole package is free for download, so be sure to head over to Brett's soundcloud and check it out. Easy-going and stripped back deep house sounds are the name of the game for [...]
