The Pitchfork Music Festival is starting to roll out the acts playing Chicago's Union Park July 17-19, with the slate for Friday night—where bands will play setlists chosen by ticket buyers—being announced. The lineup is loaded with indie's elders: Built to Spill , Yo La Tengo , Tortoise (wait, who knows names of Tortoise songs?) and the reunited Jesus Lizard . Built to Spill and Yo La Tengo are obvious big names for the Pitchfork set, and Tortoise can likely coast on Millions Now Living Will Never Die [...]

The New York Times ' report on the wave of festivals offering layaway options this year claims that people are taking advantage of the installment-plan option, with 18% of Coachella and 20% Bonnaroo ticket sales being associated with some sort of delayed payment plan. The Pemberton Festival—Live Nation's three-day fest in British Columbia that dealt with a few issues like gross bathrooms and dust storms during its inaugural run in 2008—will not have a 2009 installment, a development which Live Nation is chalking up to permit issues. As of the last update, Fleet Foxes are 75% certain to be performing, and I'm 99% likely to be looking for water bottles to recycle while they're on stage.
