Of Light And Sound Of God . Lo que Merrill Garbus hizo fue agregar aplausos que transformó en percusiones y dotaron de una nueva vibra esta tranquila [...]

I've been a staunch supporter of Merrill Garbus's experimental vocal project tUnE-yArDs since the group's 2009 debut BiRd-BrAiNs. The band's sophomore LP W H O K I L L earned a mention near the top of my " Best Albums" list from 2011 . Yesterday, tUnE-yArDs released a limited edition 103 featuring covers of Yoko Ono's " We're All Water " and " Warrior Woman ." The release is the second in a series of 103 singles featuring covers of material from Ono's back catalog. 100% of the proceeds from the vinyl and digital [...]

So there are two things you'll doubtless soon learn of Nate Brenner as this album gradually attracts the attention it appears to merit on first; second; thirteenth listen. These two things are, in effect, one and the same, and this one thing concerns Merrill Garbus. It's a thing that you'll likely be told of even before being instructed in the moniker under which Brenner is currently operating. It's Naytronix , by the bye. But yeah, anyway, Brenner is both tUnE-yArDs' bassist and Garbus' boyf. Just in case you were wondering. Enough of that though, for this début full-length really [...]

Dope or what? This video helped me figure out what effects pedal I'm going to get next - Loop Station, which is how Merrill gets her percussion kickin' the whole time. Love this band.

The tUne-yArDs' album, w h o k i l l , was an album that was in my top 5 of 2011. It may have even been my favorite album of last year and I have been in the market to attend one of their shows for the past year and a half. I finally made it happen at Summerfest for my birthday. July 1st, 2012 will go down as one of my better birthdays of recent memory. Merrill Garbus is an unreal and unusual [...]
Highlights from Soul Saturday at Sasquatch include smaller artists and big bands alike.
I love tUnE-yArds. Don't get me wrong. Merrill Garbus in general is a wonderful artist and I have stood firmly by her since I saw her perform as Sister Suvi ages ago but my feeling of using kids in music videos gets to me. It's like politicians trying to earn brownie points with voters by kissing babies: it seems fake, slimey, and exploitative. The reason why I don't run this over with the bus myself is because the message is important; arts funding is necessary to the country. And admittedly who wouldn't want to have painted their face and dance [...]

One of the great traditions of the San Francisco International Film Festival has been pairing up an indie rock band with a classic silent film. In past years these have always been classier films, such as 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea or A Page Of Madness. It seemed to be a risky move to do something [...]
This year's edition of the San Francisco International Film Festival will transpire in theaters around the city from April 19 to May 3. Last year's SFIFF marked the Bay Area premieres of such critically acclaimed hits as Beginners, Another Earth, and The Future. This year's reliably diverse lineup looks just as promising, featuring new work [...]
New video from tUne-yArDs featuring a bunch of kids acting like Merrill Garbus and dancing in what seems to be a warehouse set up like a modern art show. The production was made in collaboration with The San Fransico Rock Project, which is a non-profit organization that helps educate children about music. They have a kickstarter campaign in support of this, check it out here . The video itself is a lot of fun and it is obvious that the kids involved were really into it, as their excitement is what makes the visuals effective. There is a great amount of camera movement and quick [...]
![tUnE-yArDs – My Country [Music Video]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4194204_lg.jpg)
It's been a year since tUnE-yArDs dropped the massive critically acclaimed W H O K I L L . My Country is the third music video that was dropped and it happens (in my opinion) to be the standout track on the album. Have a look at the music video.
Here's the third video from the tUnE-yArDs ' w h o k i l l album. My Country was directed by Mimi Cave and stars the kids of the Brightworks and San Francisco Rock Project :
Merrill Garbus recruits a bunch of cute youngsters to act like weird and eccentric copycats, in the clip for “My Country”. Pretty adorable. Pick up W H O k I L L now. tUnE-yArDs - “My Country”

As if one Merrill Garbus wasn't enough, the new video for "My Country" off tUnE-yArDs’ w h o k i l l brings in a slew of miniature Garbuses (Garbusi?) to dance, make faces and just try their best to act as close to Merrill Garbus as possible. They each do a remarkable job, which is kind of eerie. tUnE-yArDs - "Bizness"

Many of the adorable kids that populated Merrill Garbus' choreographed dance video for whokill's initial single "Bizness" are back for another round of cuteness in this slightly more freestyled video for "My Country." As the album opener, this song did a wonderful job signaling that although Tune-Yards might've gotten a slick production upgrade, the attitude [...]

It's a Tune-Yards sandwich. Welcome to the first Reselect New Music Monday (which I announced last week )! I'm excited, how about you? I'm starting out with a song that came out in April 2011, just barely under my self-imposed New Music Monday deadline of 12 months since release. It's by Merrill Garbus, who goes by the name "Tune-Yards" (frequently written in writeups about her as "tUnE-yArDs" because that's how she has it written on her albums - but I find it odd that some people carry that over to writing about her, because plenty of bands [...]

Amidst a chorus of Nina Simone-like vocal loops, Memphis style horns and African drumbeats, Merrill Garbus brings down the motherfucking house. That’s the best way I can think to describe “Bizness,” the standout track from tUnE-yArDs’ W H O K I L L and hands-down the best track of 2011. On top of being an exhilarating shot of musical adrenaline, “Bizness” feels important . Experimental pop occasionally lacks an edge; even some of this year’s best releases don’t have enough energy to move the crowd. But “Bizness” should put doubters on notice that you don’t need a [...]
Last night tUnE-yArDs brought the good stuff to Jimmy Kimmel, or should I say brought the business. Or, even better, "Bizness"! Merrill Garbus was the guest of choice last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live! bringing two performances to the audience and the viewers at home. If you haven't guessed already one of the tracks she performed was "Bizness" taken from the awesome debut album, w h o k i l l . Next up they kept the good vibes flowing with a funky performance of "You Yes You". Give the former a watch at the top while [...]
