I've been a staunch supporter of Merrill Garbus's experimental vocal project tUnE-yArDs since the group's 2009 debut BiRd-BrAiNs. The band's sophomore LP W H O K I L L earned a mention near the top of my " Best Albums" list from 2011 . So there are two things you'll doubtless soon learn of Nate Brenner as this album gradually attracts the attention it appears to merit on first; second; thirteenth listen. These two things are, in effect, one and the same, and this one thing concerns Merrill Garbus. I love tUnE-yArds. Don't get me wrong. Merrill Garbus in general is a wonderful artist and I have stood firmly by her since I saw her perform as Sister Suvi ages ago but my feeling of using kids in music videos gets to me. New video from tUne-yArDs featuring a bunch of kids acting like Merrill Garbus and dancing in what seems to be a warehouse set up like a modern art show. The production was made in collaboration with The San Fransico Rock Project, which is a non-profit organization that helps educate children about music. They have a kickstarter campaign in support of this, check it out here . As if one Merrill Garbus wasn't enough, the new video for "My Country" off tUnE-yArDs’ w h o k i l l brings in a slew of miniature Garbuses (Garbusi?) to dance, make faces and just try their best to act as close to Merrill Garbus as possible. Last night tUnE-yArDs brought the good stuff to Jimmy Kimmel, or should I say brought the business. Or, even better, "Bizness"!
