Despite all the big reunions and starmaking performances, the real takeaway from this year's Coachella festival is that Dr. Dre, as part of his Sunday night headlining set, actually commissioned a motherfucking life-size hologram of the late Tupac Shakur, dead nearly 16 years now, to come out and perform, a WTF stunt that absolutely got the attention it was engineered to get. And as it you'd expect, this thing was not cheap. I personally did not make it to Coachella 2012 (and from all of us stuck at home to those who just returned or to those who will pack and head out to the sunny desert of Indio next weekend, we hate you). This is not a review of the festival, that comes after next week, but instead a hats off to the producers of the show and an article of shock and amazement and what was most likely the most surprising surprise guest of all time. No joke, I nearly had an anxiety attack when I saw this on the Coachella stream an hour ago. After some digging around, I'm led to believe that a company named Musion  created this mind boggling "performance" of 2pac.  A bunch of "news" sources quoted Deutsche Telekom as the creator, but my guy Victor pointed out to me Deutsche Telekom is german for T-Mobile. After some more researching, DT just sponsored Musion to create a Mariah Carey concert this past Christmas, they don't make the holographic technology. Hope that clears up some confusion. I hope some tech blog or wired [...]

Yes, it's true: it is now the year 2012 and we all have computers in our pockets, girls are running around with pink and green hair, and deceased rappers perform by hologram.
