I've a huge fan of zombies.  Well, not the zombies themselves but pictures featuring zombies, and certainly zombie apocalypses and all that shit.  28 Days Later is one of my top 10 favorite movies ever.  So I was definitely intrigued when AMC put on a series about the zombie apocalypse called The Walking Dead , which was an instant hit.  But I didn't watch.  The series got rave reviews, had dedicated fans, and was a frequent feature on the Howard Stern channel programs "Geek Time" and "Jon Hein's TV Show" and I really wanted to watch.  But [...]

So in May when Vague Space gave out its awards for best television programs for the 2011-2012 season , Showtime series Nurse Jackie edged out Parks & Recreation for best comedy program and Showtime series Shameless beat out Game of Thrones for best drama program, quite an impressive feat for the "other" pay cable station (bettering HBO).  Now, after spending the past 3 weeks gorging on the 1st season of Showtime drama Homeland , I might be inclined to say that the cable net has the best three programs on [...]

I'm calling half-hour shows comedies and hour-longs dramas even though a show like Nurse Jackie is usually more drama than comedy (although not as much this year).  But here are the nominations for 2011-12 TV Season in Review. So here we are at the finals of the TV madness competition that started way back in early March.  How did we get here?  And why did it take so long?  Let's get right into the matchup: Buffy the Vampire Slayer vs. It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia I certainly expected Buffy to be here, as pretty much anyone who knows me can attest to, but Sunny was a surprise.  I thought I'd see Seinfeld here or maybe Letterman or the Daily Show or even [...]

In the Active Shows category, we have this final four: 1 - Curb Your Enthusiasm vs. 4- Parks and Recreation 2 - It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia vs. 6 - Weeds OK, let's start with the easier matchup here.  Although Weeds squeaked by the last round, it's not going to beat out one of the greatest comedies in the history of television, Always Sunny.  So I'll save any words for Sunny for its next [...]

1 - Curb Your Enthusiasm vs. 9 - Modern Family 4 - Parks and Recreation vs. 5 - Nurse Jackie Curb has a 6-4 lead over current favorite Modern Family in the voting, while Parks & Rec is dominating against Nurse Jackie, 9-0.  That matchup is a little surprising, although despite the fact that Parks & Rec barely gets ratings on NBC for unknown reasons (too funny?  Americans are busy watching the horribly unfunny "Two Broke Girls"?), it still dwarfs the ratings for a show on Showtime, [...]

1 - Buffy the Vampire Slayer vs. 8 - Beverly Hills 90210 4 - The Sopranos vs. 5 - Law and Order Voting has been much lighter for Dramas than for the Comedies or Active Shows, possibly because my Drama list does not include what some consider to be the greatest shows in history (like The Wire or Dexter or Breaking Bad) that unfortunately I never watched.  In fact, if you look at the final 8 in the Active Shows bracket, you'll see that Shameless is the only "drama" [...]

1 - Seinfeld vs. 9 - Three's Company 4 - Roseanne vs. 5 - South Park The voting is currently 12-1 for Seinfeld (as of Sunday) as I believe JillFu ruined the undefeated first 2 rounds run for Seinfeld and I'm not really going to waste any words on that matchup here.  Seinfeld will cruise into the Sweet Sixteen against... this is a tough matchup to judge.  Both shows had incredible peaks... like I said last time , the pot episode on Roseanne was one of the funniest [...]

The first round matchups for the dramas start as follows: 1 -  Buffy the Vampire Slayer vs. 16-NYPD Blue 8 -  Beverly Hills 90210 vs. 9 - Angel The results of the voting as of Friday were:  NYPD Blue leading Buffy by 4-3 and "The Bev" leading Angel 4-1.  Apparently not a lot of my readers have watched the Joss Whedon classics but just so you know, in say nearly every single "best shows" list I consulted for this, Buffy held a lofty position. OK, so the first round matchups were as follows: 1 - Seinfeld vs. 16 - Murphy Brown 8 - Friends vs. 9 - Three's Company Based on voting through Friday, Seinfeld led Murphy Brown by an 11-0 score while Three's Company led Friends by a closer 6-5 margin.  Seinfeld is one of the greatest shows of all-time and a strong contender for the winner of this whole thing, while I stopped watching Murphy Brown once it got off the air.  Seinfeld wins easily to move to the 2nd round.  In the other [...]
