Ok, I've become completely obsessed with this show. I never watched it before this season. I still don't know all the characters (there's dozens, and half the women look alike, all dressed up like pilgrim people). And I obviously despise the religion stuff (although I'm beginning to believe that the writers do too). I just can't get enough of it. Along with fellow HBO show True Blood and Showtime's Weeds (both of them finished for the season), there will be a huge fight upcoming with defending champion Lost for the Vague Space TV [...]

Here's the skinny on a show I never thought I'd watch and definitely never thought I'd enjoy... but it's a spellbinding, ridiculous, wonderfully well-acted and scripted show that I would highly recommend, even for anyone who hasn't seen an episode before. The program is in the midst of Season 3 (Sunday nights, HBO, 9 pm), about four or five episodes in, and I myself only started watching at the start of this season, so if you had any interest at all, now's as good a time as any to jump right in. It really is excellent television. [...]
This is only the highlights of the appearance, as for some reason CBS has not made the whole video available on the Internet. But it's still pretty hilarious. This reminds me of the Letterman from a long, long time ago - back in his NBC days, when I thought he was the funniest person on the planet. Good to see Dave can still pull out the old fastball now and again.
I missed this news while away on business, so when my physical therapist mentioned it yesterday, I didn't know what he was talking about. But apparently there's a chicken wing shortage in this country! That's my favorite food dish ! Ahh!!!! Watch this absolutely hilarious segment on The Colbert Report about this most important issue. The Colbert Report Mon - Thurs 11:30pm / 10:30c Sport Report - Chicken Wing Spokesman Richard Lobb [...]

I skipped this award last year, concentrating only on Season in Review posts for prime-time only shows in May, but in 2006, The Colbert Report won the award in only its first full season on the air. Some things may have changed in the past two years, but the quality of that program has not. It is without fail one of the most entertaining programs on television and does it night after night. Stephen Colbert's "personality" - a mixture of Bill O'Reilly-esque pompous certitude undercut by [...]

"I was living in a devil town Didn't know it was a devil town Oh Lord, it really brings me down About the devil town All my friends were vampires I didn't know they were vampires Turns out I was a vampire myself In the devil town I was living in a devil town Didn't know it was a devil town Oh Lord, it really brings me down [...]

There's something absolutely brilliant going on at HBO that not many people know about -- a show as wonderful and interesting and truly mind-blowing as any show on television... True Blood . It's not for the faint of heart. There's sex in every episode and at least two topless females shown (and probably that many naked men as well). There's always a death or three or more, multiple bloody endings, and spooky, creepy, insane vulgarities throughout. And it's actually, at times, pretty funny. And pretty frightening. There's almost nothing not to like about it. And nothing else like it [...]
The return of Will Ferrell to Saturday Night Live as President Bush last night made for one of the best skits ever.

The best new show on television this season is not unsurprisingly on HBO. I'm not sure how the ratings are exactly, but it has been renewed for a second season, so I'm guessing the ratings aren't bad. But I don't know anyone besides Howard Stern who is talking about it, so I figure I'll give a little love. From the creator of American Beauty and Six Feet Under , this weird, gothic, highly sexual, and violent drama is easily the best thing on television right now. The entire season so far, which is in its sixth or [...]
Tina Fey is freakin' awesome. Doesn't she have her own show to do? I mean, I love 30 Rock as much as the next guy (well, probably not as much as Emmy voters, but it's a good show). But wow, she just knocks every Sarah Palin appearance on Saturday Night Live out of the freakin' park. Maybe the material is just too easy -- and Queen Latifah as Gwen Ifill is pretty great too -- but thanks for coming back to SNL in these weeks and making it relevant again for the [...]

Thanks to the power of my DirecTV HD DVR, I've taped all of the new fall season premieres that remotely interested me, and I've watched at least part of those shows. Why? So you don't have to! And believe me, you don't want to. Of all the new shows I've "previewed", only one is going to make it to a second week's viewing. The rest? Well, they weren't all horrible, but definitely not worth watching again. So here they are in order of preference: True [...]

I watched the original Beverly Hills 90210 when I was in college. Religiously. I stopped watching a couple years after college -- a couple seasons into their college years, when the plotlines got too ridiculous (Kelly's in a cult! Kelly got burned in a fire! Kelly's a lesbian! - did that one happen or am I imagining things?) But certainly 90210 holds fond memories for me. And so I was strangely excited about the new WB UPN UW? version of the show, featuring Kelly and Brenda and Nat [...]

Ok, this is definitely offensive. And absolutely unbecoming for a blog that preaches racial sensitivity. It was certainly unnecessary to post this. But as a public service only, I provide the following video from The Daily Show . The parts with Kerri Strug are good. Jim Nantz's appearance is surprising. But the ending? Well, I won't spoil it. But I didn't laugh at all. Because it's wrong. So hilariously wrong.
"Only Foxx that I love was the Redd one. Only black man that Fox loves is in jail or a dead one." - Nas Ok, I don't listen to rap music, and I probably wouldn't have known about this if Nas hadn't appeared on The Colbert Report last week, promoting -- well, mostly his album -- but also the Color of Change organization, which circulated a petition signed by 600,000+ citizens, asking Fox News to stop its racist portrayals of African Americans, including most importantly, Barack Obama. I don't think anyone [...]

The creator behind the greatest hour-long show in the history of television (yeah, I said it), Buffy the Vampire Slayer , as well as two other great programs, Angel and Firefly (ok, I didn't actually watch Firefly but the movie Serenity was awesome), the incomparable Joss Whedon has come out with a new web-only musical about supervillains , starring Doogie Howser as "Dr. Horrible" and Nathan Fillion (star of Firefly and Serenity ) as his nemesis, Captain Hammer. You pretty much don't get any more ridiculous [...]
