Last night, Twin Shadow came to the Music Hall of Williamsburg for a special show that included one rant about the city of Boston and one climactic balloon drop. I will reluctantly admit that I was slow on the uptake when it came to Twin Shadow 's sophomore LP, Confess . For whatever reason, my ears tend to avoid sounds with such overt references to 1980s pop music. I have always had trouble finding the humanity beneath the often plastic dance beats and synth-driven overlays that dominated popular music during the latter half of that decade. For their latest video, Yours Truly captures George Lewis Jr. aka Twin Shadow performing "Run My Heart" from his excellent new Confess album. This isn't your typical stage performance, though. As with all Yours Truly material, Twin Shadow delivers something a little more personal and unique. Instead of a stage, he invited the crew to record him in his own backyard in Los Angeles. Watch below, and see a handwritten note from George below.
Twin Shadow has released a new video for Confess standout, "Patient". Continuing the story of the 702s style motorcycle gang found in the "Five Seconds" video , the now victorious crew fight for the hand of a beautiful blonde dame. George Michael Jr. tries to battle his jealousy, but eventually gives in to his heart's desire and rides off with her into the midnight moon. Confess is now available via 4AD .
