TOP FIVES: I Know The Chief

TOP FIVES: I Know The Chief I KNOW THE CHIEF are a Melbourne five piece, formerly making up the outfit Passport . Creating a real summery, replenishing sound, the dudes have been making waves on Triple J Unearthed scoring some digital radio airplay, and released their  No Cigar EP last December. Constantly playing shows locally, the boys aren't keen to stop anytime soon, as they are the Evelyn Hotel's May residents; therefore will be playing a show every week at the said venue of this month! Considering all of [...]

Frank Ocean to support the Killers at Phoenix Park

Frank Ocean - Swim Good
The Killers have been confirmed to play at Phoenix Park and have shown some impressive curatorial skills in the process, with MCD announcing support from Bangor cherubs Two Door Cinema Club , indie-disco ingenues Haim and Odd Future wunderkind Frank Ocean as support. The Las Vegas stadium-rockers will headline the gig on Saturday, 13th July, which will be their first Irish date since a couple of arena shows in support of last year's Battle Born . While Two Door Cinema Club recently hit the O2, Dublin and Haim are [...]

Robot Music!!!

Robot Music!!! Today on  Robot Music I will be showcasing some new remixes that I have been listening too. We start off with a remix of my favorite lady,  Ellie Goulding,  who gets her song "Explosions" dubstepfied by  Gemini . Not only that, I have a nice Trap remix of  Rihanna's  "Diamonds", an upbeat remix of "Sun" by  Two Door Cinema Club, and at the end of the list I have a much different take on "Original Don" by  Major Lazer.

New Music Tuesday: Foals – Holy Fire

New Music Tuesday: Foals – Holy Fire This weeks edition of new tunes goes to indie-rockers,  Foals . To be honest, I hadn't paid a ton of attention to this band up until recently, but now that I've heard the new material from  Holy Fire , I'm a little bummed I didn't listen sooner. Better late than never right? Here's the deal, Holy Fire rocks - plain and simple. After binging on  Two Door Cinema Club and  The Temper Trap  over the past few months with their recent releases, Foals is very welcome company in my speakers as they bring a hybrid version of [...]

Falls Festival Review: The scenewave guide to surviving Marion Bay Falls

After our time spent at Falls Festival in Marion Bay, Tasmania, we’ve developed a somewhat informative list (I make lists all the time) of 9 rules/tips, that can hopefully help out future Falls-goers by learning from our many mistakes and few victories. Rule #1: Get your grog in. This one’s key. I don’t want to make us all out to sound like useless alcoholics and that you need a bottle of Captain Morgan’s Spiced Gold each day to have a good time – but it’s the truth. And [...]

Monday Morning Mix-Up (1/21)

Alright folks, the Monday Morning Mix-Up is a little bit all over the place. I wish I could tell you there was some central idea or feeling to these 8 tracks, but there isn't. Just a collection of songs that shuffled into my ears this morning. Hope you are okay with that. If ever you'd like to submit a list of 8 songs for the Monday Morning/Midday Mix-Up shoot an e-mail to me at c.ryan@musicthatisntbad.com. Have a great Monday!

Top Gigs of 2012: Editor’s Picks

Top Gigs of 2012: Editor’s Picks Another year, and another top 5 gigs by bands that should not be missed live. How odd that three of them came one after another, but that's the cool thing about Washington DC. Except for December through the beginning of February (the dead of winter) and June through August (festival season), there is always a reasonably good selection of bands coming through here. But that hasn't always been the case. I am often asked on my travels why I became a music blogger, and the simple answer has always been this: when I [...]

MTIB’s Top 50 Albums of 2012

About two weeks ago MTIB started whittling down a list of over 5,678 abums (5,679 albums to be exact) to bring you a list of our favorite albums of the year. This year we decided we shouldn't stop at just ten, but share all of the albums that were in the running as well. So, here you have it. The 50 finest albums of 2012, in our humble opinions. Although, we may not use as many big words as Pitchfork and we may not always be as 'hip', we do understand those words and we did [...]

Top 10 Sets at Austin City Limits 2012

Top 10 Sets at Austin City Limits 2012 Scene: the AMD Stage of Austin City Limits Festival on early Saturday afternoon. Moments before Rufus Wainwright walks out in a suit that can only be described as the result of a zebra fucking an American flag, several thousand fans – many of them wearing the burnt orange and white colors of Austin’s University of Texas Longhorns – have their eyes glued to the two large video screens at the side of the stage. Instead of highlights from past ACL fests or schedules at other stages, the screens are showing that day’s 107th edition of the [...]

Gigamesh takes on Two Door Cinema Club & Fleetwood Mac

Gigamesh takes on Two Door Cinema Club & Fleetwood Mac Gigamesh gets it. Well, at least when it comes to the type of remixes I like. If songs were steaks and remixing the songs was seasoning them, Gigamesh would lightly salt and season manipulating the flavor only enough to make it a new experience. Whereas, many DJ/producers will douse the steak in A1 sauce.  Anyway, enjoy your steak and have a good Sunday. Two Door Cinema Club - "Sun (Gigamesh Remix)" Fleetwood Mac - "Dreams (Gigamesh Edit)"

Two Door Cinema Club – Sun (Gigamesh Remix)

Tying one of this year's most foot-moving artists, Two Door Cinema Club , with one of this year's quickest growing DJ artists, Gigamesh, we've got ourselves a perfect marriage here.   Gigamesh has some secret formula and glues it to everything he does... The result?  Magic.  TDCC's single "Sun" from their new album Beacon is out and available on iTunes  for download. We think you'll like this one better than the original.

Two Door Cinema Club – Sun (Gigamesh remix)

REVIEW: Two Door Cinema Club – ‘Beacon’

REVIEW: Two Door Cinema Club – ‘Beacon’ I personally didn’t think these lads could do it again. Tourist History was exceptional and one of my highlights of 2010 (what a year for music). After hearing the first single “Sleep Alone”, from their new record Beacon,  I wasn’t too hopeful. It was one of those things where I’d put it on again and again and again praying that they’d delivered another “Undercover Martyn”, “I Can Talk” or “Something Good Can Work”, but I just wasn’t feeling that ‘x factor’. Eventually I warmed to it a little, although I had a sinking [...]
