At Jacques-Cartier Park in Gatineau/Ottawa on Canada. The first show to start of was Two Hours Traffic . I haven't seen them live in awhile. They did a great set filled with their popular songs. There was no new material on the set but it was great to hear them live. Here is what they sang. Here are the rest of the photos. [...]

This is where I spent my Canada Day this year. I went up to Jacques-Cartier Park for this great Songwriter's Circle by CBC Radio . The Canada Day Maple Sugar Song Circle was broadcast live. This year the singers featured were: Daniela Gesundheit ( Snowblink ) Graham Van Pelt ( Miracle Fortress ) Liam Corcoran & Alec O'Hanley ( Two Hours Traffic ) [...]
Liam Corcoran and Kinley Dowling are cousins. Together they are known as The Express, although you may already know him from Two Hours Traffic, and you may already know her from Hey Rosetta!. As The Express, they create songs of acoustic simplicity and emotional truths, and are probably a new name you may want to get to know as well. Alongside Cuff The Duke's Dale Murray, The Express took some time between touring commitments with their full-time bands to collaborate and track their ideas. The finished product is an eponymous record that's being released independently on July [...]
Liam Corcoran and Kinley Dowling are first cousins. You may know him from Two Hours Traffic and Q&As like this one . You may know her from Hey Rosetta! When these two kinfolk come together to collaborate on songs of acoustic simplicity and emotional truths, they go under the name The Express . You should really get to know The Express. Together with Cuff The Duke's Dale Murray, Corcoran and Dowling laid down some beautiful pop-folk [...]

by teepoo The Express are made up of people from bands you have heard of before. It's a collaboration between cousins Liam Corcoran from Two Hours Traffic and Kinley Dowling, violinist from Hey Rosetta! The result is beautiful musical chemistry in an eleven track self-titled album set to release on July 5, 2011. From my first lessons through the album so far, I'm so in love with Liam's voice. It's an acoustic album where every note whether it be voice, guitar, violin or mandolin is played with effortless [...]

Two Hours Traffic has released some killer upbeat rock songs , but I've never been much of a fan of the slower, sentimental material. That's why I went into singer Liam Corcoran's sparse, folksy side-project the Express with some hesitation. Luckily, the first single doesn't miss the mark. Entitled "Nobody Knows," it taps into a rootsier side of Corcoran's oeuvre, with strings from bandmate/cousin/ Hey Rosetta! member Kinley Dowling. Go to Exclaim! to read my article about the Express's upcoming full-length.
On Tuesday, March 29, Canadian power-pop band Two Hours Traffic played the overhead stage at Hard Rock Cafe, Mumbai. The 11-year old band were performing for the first time in India, and had just played in New Delhi a few days prior to this gig. After a few days off, some sightseeing and exploring the Taj Mahal, the band arrived at the Lower Parel venue seemingly at ease, anticipating a promising evening ahead. The quartet played a two hour set, beginning promptly at 9.30 pm, admittedly surpised at the concept of "playing over the bar, we've [...]
Canadian indie rock act Two Hours Traffic will hit Indian shores next month. The quartet from Charlottetown will play three cities at the end of March, hitting New Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore on a short tour. The band's music is a particularly upbeat brand of power pop, and has been used in several TV shows including Gossip Girl, The OC and Castle. The Polaris Prize-nominated (the Canadian equivalent of the Mercury Prize ) band released their latest album Territory (stream it here ) [...]

Sydney, Australia's The Jezebels are set to head out on a national tour of Canada in support of Two Hours Traffic following the recent release of their new EP Dark Storm, out October 1st. Before Canada though, and having heard a little from them, this might be one of those must-see bands to track down during CMJ. The Jezebels have toured Australia since the release of their EP She's So Hard in November 2009, supporting artists like Tegan & Sara , Katie Noonan and Josh Pyke [...]
Given the volume of music available for consideration on One Track Mind, we invariably have to pass on a lot of tasty morsels. [tweetmeme] In a desire to share even more great, free music with you, the Sunday Sampler offers a handful of tracks without the usual critical and biographical write-up. Less talk, more tunes. Two Hours Traffic "Happiness Burns" from Territory [ released 9/7 | indie rock ] [ [...]

Ryan Walter Wagner I had the opportunity/duty of thinking very hard about Black Mountain's last album, 20082s In The Future , when it was put on the Polaris Music Prize short list for that year and I was put on the grand jury. And while I respected the craftsmanship and scope of the record, I couldn't quite take it and its big, vintage stoner-rock moves seriously enough to champion it and couldn't get past the impression that it was a nudge-nudge kind of joke to the band [...]

Welcome once again to Friday, and my ecclectic mixtape of musical selections culled from around the interwebs. Thanks to the holiday, it's been a short week, and a somewhat pleasant one here in the Southeast. Owing perhaps to those details, this week's mix has grown from previous weeks of just 8-9 to 14 tracks. I just kept adding songs. It's no less random though, sovering almost every genre I listen to, except maybe bluegrass and christian death metal (okay, so I dont' really listen to that ). Download, enjoy, and come back next Friday when I'll have another mixtape [...]

The highlight for many in this week's list of new releases is Interpol's self-titled fourth album, which finds the band back within the friendly confines of Matador Records after fooling around with a major label on their third album, Our Love to Admire . I'm not sure if this new album is supposed to be a statement/reintroduction, considering it's self-titled and what not, but after listening a couple of times to and from work, nothing in particular happened to really grab my attention. Sadly, that has been the case for everything I've listened to from [...]

JJ Levine Rae Spoon's last album, 20082s Superioryouareinferior , may have served as the point of entry for me into the Calgary native's works, but his fifth album was more of an exit for him in that it represented a push out of the country-folk scene with which he'd been associated and into the (relatively) broader realm of Canadian indie-pop. Maybe not the promised land, but without that bit of crossover, the record probably wouldn't have otherwise caught my ear certainly wouldn't have last year's Polaris [...]
