Gah! We love us some garage here at TMN. If you ever want to see a blogger pop and lock across the office floor, just give us a two step beat and driving bassline. Well kiddos, that's exactly what we have for you today. J Majik and Wickaman's DnB track "Lift Me Up" has gotten a little facelift by Guzzla. While there's little to no information out there on this UK remixer, we're happy he showed his skills on this energetic, uplifting vocal gem. The remix will be featured on the "Lift Me Up" package, [...]
For The Sinner'ı tanıtmaya başladı. Baştan sona soulful vokallerle dolu electronica parçayla birlikte albümü sabırsızlıkla ... Continue reading

Over the last couple of years, Ninja Tune's New York-based FaltyDL (Drew Lustman) has been honing his hybrid of jazz inflected electronic funk with exponential clarity through releases on Planet Mu, remixes for Scuba, remixes by Four Tet and supporting gigs for electronic dilettantes Radiohead. His current release, "Hardcourage," is a glorious slice of digital soul and a culmination of his romantic approach to bleep and bumps. Leaving no doubt to his sunny side, the video for "She Sleeps" is set in Central Park's outdoor roller disco and features vocals by twee-poppers Friendly Fires' Ed MacFarlane. Lest we think recently [...]

Two giants of the London electronica scene, Burial and Disclosure , have been busy in recent weeks. Firstly, Burial released a two-track called Truant which can be purchased for a piffling amount over at Hyperdub . Both lengthy songs, they're as fragile and humbling as pretty butterflies. That diluted saxophone early on in the title track particularly thrills me. Anyway, here they both are: Click here to view the embedded video. Click here to view the embedded video. [...]

George Townsend and Adam Kaye, better known as Britain’s Bondax, are coming to town. They’ll be doing their first ever Los Angeles show presented by Hard Events at The Roxy. Tip of the hat to Gary Richards for bringing these two in for the first time. In a world where it’s not easy to get recognized, we imagine the ripples these young producers have created in 2012 (“Baby I Got That,” “It’s You” and their remix of “ Not Giving In ” by Rudimental) will only grow in 2013 if they keep doing what they’re currently [...]

Second helping of UK garage this morning . MJ Cole just posted up a dub remix of "Sticks and Stones" by London singer Arlissa. MJ Cole completely transformed the tune stripping out most of the vocals (as "dub" mixes do) and turned into 100% dancefloor heat. Have a listen: Arlissa has an absolutle amazing voice and she's just 19 years old—talk about big things to come. Check out this video her performing "Sticks and Stones" at this year's Bestival. Beautiful and talented... watch her. Arlissa [...]

What do you get when one of the hottest things happen in UK garage right now ( Disclosure ) remixes one of the originators of the genre ( Artful Dodger ) biggest hits? Amazingness, that’s what. And this is what it sounds like: BTW, if you missed our interview with Disclosure you can have a read here . Can't get over these guys at the moment. Disclosure are South London based brothers Guy and Howard Lawrence. They're only 17 and 20 and they're already making serious waves with their smooth production: a unique blend of detroit house-y beats with soulful vocals, taking you down low, real deep vibes. Also borrowing elements from UK Garage, the output is a ridiculously euphoric upbeat sound dripping with sexy synths, shuffling funky basslines adding a lush layer depth. Check the melodies on this: [Disclosure - Latch (feat Sam Smith)] [Jessie Ware - Running (Disclosure Remix)] This is the one that got me: [...]

Run! I know you all were heartbroken when you saw there was no 5 Song Friday last week and were therefore metaphysically destroyed by the metaphorical UFOs that represent your weekend stresses. Fortunately, the UFOs are only a metaphor and they will be vanquished by this batch of magnificent music. Kick back, listen/download below and enjoy your weekend. Bear Mountain, headed by Ian Bevis, hails from Vancouver. While he primarily makes electronic-centered indie rock music (there's a little bit of Yeasayer and Passion Pit in there), "Two Step," released last year, has a rollicking drum line to boot. I just began to follow them on SoundCloud - there's a wealth of great music on his page. Check it out. These two tracks are my current favorites. Tweet When I think of Canada I think of bears, mountains and mounties. The first two I find appealing (though I'd approach both with some trepidation), the latter is more peculiar. No-one's really sure what mounties do. Are they police or the army? Are they like beefeaters? Do they take orders at McDonald's drive-throughs? Who knows (Canadians I guess). So, it seems poetically precise that this Vancouver based electronica gang (the brain-child of Ian Bevis) are known simply as Bear Mountain . Canadian to the [...]
Kuedo releases some visuals to accompany the track "Ascension Phase," which comes off the German producer's latest album, Severant . It's out now on Planet Mu .
Step Right by Rave Deep As part of a free compilation that Oakland label West in Dust has just released, electronic producer RaveDeep has released a new song titled "Step Right." The track combines 2-step rhythms with the method of pitch shifting vocal samples that artists like Burial and James Blake have been defining over the past few years. It's a popular sound right now, but RaveDeep sets himself apart by cutting up samples more intricately than many producers care to, taking nods from glitch music in his approach. The [...]

This city can be so damned busy, so frenetic and frustrated and packed and pulsing, and yet sometimes you can feel utterly, hideously lonely. I had that today walking across Victoria; I realised, suddenly, almost painfully, how alone I felt. It's hard to know what to do - rather than talk to someone, my gut instinct is to hide, to burrow deeper and deeper into murky noise, like these woozy songs from rising London star Alby Daniels . Both are a sort of bleary, bedroom-based dubstep; listening to them makes me feel safely distant and immune, a musical anaesthetic [...]

Sepalcure are production duo Travis Stewart and Praveen Sharma, and this is their first full-length album. Occupying that amorphous murk we can conveniently (and lazily) refer to as post-dubstep, “Sepalcure” is an assured and beautiful collection of music which should sound as good on forward-thinking dancefloors as it will crashed out on a sofa in a haze of spliff smoke. The songs flit deftly between rhythms and styles, incorporating everything from woozy two-step (“Me”) to bleeping, ravey house hybrids (“The One”). But rather than being prescriptive – 'let's open with a dub... Read more..

http://www.worldmusicwire.com C.J. Chenier talks a lot about energy. Ask him why he recorded a certain song and he’ll tell you he likes the energy of it. Why does he love zydeco music? It’s the energy. And so it should come as no surprise that C.J.’s new album, Can’t Sit Down is so jam-packed with energy it could power a small city! Recorded live in one session at Rock Romano’s Red Shack Studio in Houston, Texas, Can’t Sit Down is all about truth [...]

In a world where Soundcloud, Mixcloud, fifty million podcasts and one hundred million amateur DJs are all clamouring to bring you mixes of everything from deep techno to alien pukestep via only songs with the word squirrel in the title (or something) for free, has the humble mix CD had its day? Surely even the illustrious FabricLive series, which in the past has featured some of the biggest, most eclectic names in dance music, including the late John Peel, New York turntablist DJ Spinbad and Dutch filth merchants Noisia, is running out of ideas? On the strength of number 59, [...]
