I wouldn't say I ever had a "love affair" with the ukulele. Besides its unintuitive spelling and the difficulty I have switching between it and guitar, I've also found there to be simply too many musicians out there who incorporate a ukulele into their bands seemingly without reason. You can't hear it (because it's almost never miked), and even when you can make it out it's like the rest of the music's "slow" kid brother, playing simple, insufficient chords while everyone else goes on like big boys and girls.
