After selling out their first-ever appearance at NYC's Beacon Theatre, HT faves Umphrey's McGee have announced a second NYC gig for this coming weekend as they'll return to Brooklyn Bowl in Williamsburg on Sunday night. Chicago's Umphrey's McGee has taken their New Year's Run on the road for the second year in a row after 10 straight NYEs in their hometown. This year UM has setup camp at The Tabernacle in Atlanta for a four-night run. At last night's show, UM dusted off Rocker - a beautiful song written about Brian "Rocker" Schultz, a close friend of the band who was killed by a drunk driver in a car accident after one of those aforementioned UM New Year's shows in Chicago. Back on Halloween Umphrey's McGee teamed up with StageIt from webcast their All Night Wrong show from Maryland after the effects of SuperStorm Sandy led AXS TV to cancel a televised simulcast planned for the performance. Last night Umphrey's McGee guitarists Jake Cinninger and Brendan Bayliss teamed up for an acoustic show at Chicago's Shedd Aquarium. Back in August Umphrey's McGee threw their first-ever sUMmer School program at Full Moon Resort in Big Indian, New York - a five-day summer music camp in which attendees can learn from and interact with members of the band and their crew. Last weekend Umphrey's McGee headlined the Bear Creek Music & Art Festival at the Spirit of Suwannee Park in Live Oak, Florida. On Friday the 9th, UM played two sets on the Big IV Amphitheatre stage and followed it up the next night with one long set at the same stage. Early next year Umphrey's McGee will hit the road hard for a month-long tour to celebrate "15 Years of Facemelting" that will take them through the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Midwest states by the time it's through. The run kicks off at Town Ballroom in Buffalo, New York on January 16th and ends on February 17th at The Canopy in Urbana, Illinois.
