In a progressive and respectable move to meet high demand for all ages shows, UK's The Great Escape, which kicked off today, has incorporated AA events for the first year since its 2006 inception. While American festivals like SXSW usually come with satellite events and unsanctioned basement shows, that of course underaged attendees can access, for the most part the festival season targets 21+ crowds. Of course there are smaller operations that address minors like Bamboozle, and even New England Metal & Hardcore Fest, et al, it's presumed for the most part that younger fans are harder to [...]

Oooh what a surprise this was. Didn't expect anything like this kind of sound as I pressed the play button. Glass Animals just signed to Kaya Kaya (on XL recordings) and have delivered some pretty impressive stuff on their Soundcloud profile. Self Blown got a hold of them on HumanHuman and got us turned into a frenzy ever since, especially this 'Black Mambo' track we totally recommend : Glass Animals' is the first signing to the new imprint kaya kaya records via xl. They are the perfect collision [...]

Moko is an artist we've been following for quite some time (check here also ) now. Ever since she put out some of the grooviest songs on Soundcloud for our greatest enjoyement. She has now plenty of followers, a bunch of labels engaged in a signing battle and already some brilliant live shows under her belt (the last one to date being the " Crack in The Road Live #1 ' last Thursday. She just released 'Homesick' for our lazy Saturday afternoon listening. And the girl can sing. And has impressive moves as per CiTR... Watch out [...]

Moon Boots' remix of 'Gold' may not start off that special, but once the vocals kick in and you get into the mess of it all this Bondax original gets all Moon Boots'd out. I am absolutely falling for Mt. Wolf. Not only is the group's electro sound enchantingly dark in beauty, but singer Kate Sproule's voice matches the enchantment with a voice that surprisingly can carry like few others. The writing is poignant with choruses that are equally as addicting. I don't get too heavy into EP's too often, but every song on here is a single worth sharing. This is definitely the future in the dark side of pop. Mt. Wolf [...]

Let me explain... I've been criticizing white boy & UK rap ever since I first laid ears on it and now I just so happen to be featuring a rapper that highlights both. The world is a changin' and so am I. REECE may be the definition of what I don't look for in a rap artist, but I still can't deny the qualities of his latest single. 'In the Morning' is first and foremost a well produced track with one catchy-ass chorus. And unlike the rap I'm most apathetic towards, REECE takes [...]
Foes: Tommy – Guitar & Vocals Drew – Lead Guitar Alex – Bass Marcus – Drums Hailing from Birmingham, Foes bring a powerful, raw energy to this already musically vibrant city. They’re influences stem from bands such as Nirvana, Queens of the Stone Age & The Vines. These influences give take to their dominant guitar riffs, large drum sound and spikey vocals. Originally called The British Kicks, the band came together in early 2012. The reason behind the name change was due to shift in musical direction. Lending [...]

If you haven’t already, I think it’s about time you get acquainted with this month’s featured Pairings Box artist Port Isla . After all, the quickly rising Norwich, England four-piece indie folk band has already been featured in over 30 music blogs; promoted by the BBC; their debut single (this month’s a-side “Sinking Ship”) ranked highly on the popular website Hype Machine; and they are currently one of 8 finalists being considered to play the main stage at this year’s Glastonbury Festival in the UK. The quartet, consisting of William Bloomfield, Stanley Spilman, Henry Kilmister, and Will Olenski, formed [...]
When I first heard this, I thought it was some track of Anna Kendrick off the Perfect Pitch soundtrack ...not that I've listened to it... Anyways, I originally thought I'd one of the first to post this 'Rich' track, but boy was I wrong. As it stands, this porch-friendly jam sesh has hit 50,000 plays on SoundCloud and I'm sure there's a helluva lot more to come. Hope these two team up for some more, alotta room for growth here. The kitten purs at the start are a bit unnerving, though. [...]

This SOHN beat is a bit out there, but that's what we love best. It's got a very crisp sound to it and put together with these indie-sedating vocals, 'The Wheel' is one electro-indie seduction. My one issue with it goes back to the beat. The sample of the sticks get to be too repetitive and just doesn't have enough variance. Still, some very good qualities to it, namely those vocals. I've been wondering what the name and who this is by for far too long now. I caught it on an Afro Monk mix a few months back, but there really wasn't any proper credits. Finally though, I found it on another mix and with a little more digging around I finally found the name to a sure to be Silence favorite. 'Cherry Blossom' is another one of those new soul songs with chipmunk like vocals. I hate explaining to people what this new type of soul is - once you put chipmunk [...]
Often a bands name is a statement of how they see themselves, sometimes it's simply to grab the attention or to make a statement. Rarely a bands name is so synonymous with the music; a wonderful embodiment of what you hear ... Continue reading

Luminaire was one of the most consistent quality producers of 2012 and he sure is starting off 2013 right. 'Like We Used To' is some funkfilled, smooth disco with one catchy chorus (they get me all the time). 'Something, Something' is another smooth ride, but only threw it up for bonus because I've been bleeding out Luminaire for the last year and I gotta give some room for some other musicians. Bonus Luminaire · Something, Something Luminaire [...]

I'm still quite stricken by how well music is progressing. If you can't see (or hear) what's going on creatively around the world, you're not exploring it deep enough. Jessie's 'What You Won't Do For Love' is just about a blend of perfection. It feels like she's singing straight to me. And who did this beat? woofta. We may just have the sexiest shit of 2013 right here and it just so happens to be a One Direction cover... and I'm okay with that. Vicktor Taiwò runs soul circles around these One Direction lyrics and tops it off nice with a little hypnotic vocal distortion - love it, when done right. I should really make up a mix of One Direction spin-offs, that'd be one sexy mix. Vicktor Taiwò Location: London (East End), United Kingdom Vicktor Taiwò on: SoundCloud | Twitter [...]
