I have sung the praises of Unknown Mortal Orchestra in the past and their follow up to their 2011 self titled LP " II " released this month has got me blabbing again. Last month, LA-based Foxygen (made up of Jonathan Rado and Sam France) released a video that doubles as a time machine back to San Francisco circa 1973. The duo spends the track, simply and appropriately titled (you guessed it) "San Francisco," frolicking through Golden Gate Park and emulating The Velvet Underground's  Loaded in a pink hotel room. It may be an out-of-towner's rendition of SF, but the Kinks-esque, subdued psychedelic sound and acid-dancing under the trees sure evoke some post-Summer of Love nostalgia. Christopher Mintz-Plasse, aka Superbad 's McLovin', stars in Unknown Mortal Orchestra 's video for their song "So Good at Being in Trouble". Armed with a baseball bat, Mintz-Plasse portrays a flyer distributor who takes out his anger on a slew of Grimes look-a-likes in Venice Beach. Check out the psychedelic clip above. To coincide with today’s release of their brand new record II , Unknown Mortal Orchestra is sharing the music video for “So Good At Being In Trouble” starring actor + musician Chris Mintz-Plasse alongside Ruban Nielson. The clip, directed by Danny Perez (known for his extensive work with Animal Collective + Black Dice), provides a perfect visual representation of the song’s warm psychedelia.
