Simian Mobile Disco blear to morphed out geometric shapes and cloudy lights in their new music video for "A Species Out Of Control" . What kicks off as a path less travelled turns into a gurgling pit of laced corners and menacing edges before lazing down to a gooey outro. The jam is lifted from 'Unpatterns' , the wholly underrated 2012 release from the English duo who formed back in 2005. We're expecting to see the guys back in Australia for the Future Music Festival! When James Ford and Jas Shaw of Simian had the brilliant idea to branch off and create their own electronic music duo, the stars were definitely in alignment. Since 2005, Simian Mobile Disco have been cranking out some of the best English electro around; actually, make that just some of the best electro, period. In addition to crafting superb remixes for artists such as Klaxons, Peaches and Florence + The Machine, Simian Mobile Disco are also responsible for some pretty heavy beats of their own, including the songs on 2007’s fantastic debut, Attack Decay Sustain Release.   [...]

Analogue production is specked with looped vocals eluding to heartache and loss, resulting in a strangely poignant trend throughout. Yet, true to their name, catchy tracks worthy of  late-night dance-offs are blended  in, combining nostalgic struggle with a heartfelt attempt to move on.  Let's hope they illuminate our local live music establishments sometime soon.

James and Jas of Simian Mobile Disco dropped the Unpatterns LP today on Wichita Recordings . The duo will be conjuring up magic live via subtractive synthesis at Fabric in London this Friday evening to celebrate the release; (tickets and info here ). The publishers have generously and wisely made the entire LP available for free streaming. Simian Mobile Disco have become synonymous with tasteful and top quality production. This hotly anticipated LP lives up to all expectations of the duo. Carefully crafted electronic dance music, the album manages to transgress boundaries between genres at blending contemporary trends and musical maturity. No related posts.

I've always been a Simian Mobile Disco fan. Attack Sustain Decay Release is such a good album that it pains me to say that their follow-up albums are just so... meh. Temporary Pleasure showcased the duo dabbling in the electro-pop-r&b that was part of the zeitgeist of 2009 and then they released Delicacies, which featured a select number of psychedelic dance and minimal techno chunes that were honestly not all bad. Then here we are today, almost two years since  Delicacies  was released and Simian Mobile Disco puts forth [...]
