Just spotted via twitter . In a post- Frank Ocean world, do people still care about the The Weeknd though?
Trap remake of Kendrick Lamar 's "Backseat Freestyle." Not bad?
Nice soulful, throwback-feeling track from Colemine Records for your Sunday listening pleasure. Look for Fat Night to tour the southeast in Mid August in support of their forthcoming debut full-length album.
Somehow, even though I had heard about it, I forgot to check for this track when it dropped last week even though Janelle Monáe and Erykah Badu are two of my favorite artists but I noticed the video had just dropped via Pinterest ( check me here if you're into that sort of kind of thing, BTW) so I figured I'd just post both now. Are these (the song and video) as epic as you would expect from a collab between these two creative talents? I think you can guess where I stand [...]
I never thought I'd say this but Texas's Latasha Lee Robinson , along with her band, The BlackTies migth could be the singer who can fill the enormous gap left in music after the still untimely death of the late, great Amy Winehouse . She's the real deal. Check out this track that's very reminiscent of "Love is a Losing Game" and tell me I ain't right! At very least, it's better than than travesty that is the Andre 3000 & Beyonce cover of Amy's "Back to Black" [...]
Cool music from T.dot-based singer-songwriter-producer, Aaron Bird. Is this soul of the electronic or pop variety, R&B or something else? You be the judge. Not sure the vocals are quite as stellar as they ought to be, after all there's a lot of contenders in the new school blue-eyed soul field from Ben Stevenson locally and Adam Levine & JT in the mainstream to Daniel Beddingfield , Mike Posner and [...]
Long time readers know I've supported Toronto singer, Ania Soul in the past . She just posted this song on her Soundcloud page but I was blessed to hear it while reviewing her Sonicbids submission for NXNE a few weeks back. Great song!
Indie-disco, dance-punk, disco-rock?? I've no idea how you should label this (or if you need to), but I LOVE it!!! Shades of David Byrne /early Talking Heads on this one....
I used to love the original of this track . This club remix has caught my ear too. Really nice....
I had heard Cash Money had signed 90s rock-rap refugees Limp Bizkit but after no music had surfaced (or if it did, it never made it on my radar), I assumed that whole thing had gone away. I guess not....
No joke, this is actually epicly, f-cking brilliant in my opinion.... [via FADER ]
Perfect Sunday listening vibes from this French artist. Check out two tracks from her QUASAR EP. Recommended if you're into Badu , Jill Scott , J*Davey etc. Dig those two tracks? Listen to the full Quasar EP by HERE via the Different Kitchen Facebook page . Dreamy eyes by Adjoci Quasar by Adjoci
I'm not saying these girls, from the left coast of Vancouver BC, are ace spitters or anything, but this is different sounding and, I dunno about y'all but I need more of that in my life, personally. Hit the jump for another track, "I Know What Boys Like" (interpolating the hook from the classic new wave song by The Waitresses ....)
Latest track from T.dot dubstep duo, Zeds Dead is a trap banger featuring Three Six Mafia legend, Juicy J . No comment on the lyrical content! Previously on The Kitchen : - Zeds Dead – Hot Sauce EP (Minimix) - Marina and the Diamonds – Lies (Zeds Dead Remix)
Latest heater from the hometown (Toronto) homies, Keys N Krates . I think this one will go:
Soul On Ice is the aka of super-dope Toronto DJ and producer, Sean Sax . This remix is, pardon the awkward turn of phrase given Sean's pka, FIYA!
Ridiculously good music. Perfect Sunday listening.... Dig it and want to download it? Go HERE .
I tweeted this a month ago but it's worth a Sunday afternoon vibe out blog post too. Enjoy this dubby, trip-hop-esque remix...
Solo music by Go Dreamer of left - field ATL crew, Hollyweerd . Dig this? Check out his Animals Vs. Machines 2 Side:(A)nimals album.
Recent music from BBE Records off the Kokolores Remixes project . Funky....
