Sound and the Urgency is the name of the album, the song and the project, or you could also call it Brian Senesac, from Portland. Sound and the Urgency is an indie-rock, folk-electronic masterpiece that was inspired by anti-depressant induced dreams, political apathy, modern alienation and watching too much cable news . (CD Baby) No matter how you listen to Sound and the Urgency , one thing is for shure: it is in fact a master-piece of folk music. Look for it (you should look for it) at your favourite mp3 retailer, or [...]

Tweet America, I am not in you - I've only ever spent a few days in you - so maybe I'm missing something well-known and obvious, here. What is it about folk music and Portland? Having just discussed Hip Hatchet - from Portland - and Fleet Foxes - from Portland - along comes Sound And The Urgency - from (you'll never guess) Portland. It's like the Bermuda Triangle of guitar-strummers everywhere. Who knows? Maybe it's just a touch of Baader-Meinhof. If you haven't [...]
Download ten great covers of songs by Celine Dion, Helium, Foo Fighters, Starkillers, Thom Yorke, Bon Iver, Beach Boys, Placebo, Adele, and Judy Garland
So this is not new, and I did not just get this either. However, I just shuffled onto it, and find it crucial for this Canadian rapper to get more exposure. I have three of his songs and each one has sick flow over a tight, unique beat, with incredible meaning in each lyric spit. [...]

Moonbell - Urgence The thick, dense shoegaze waves of Ride was among my favorite music in college. Their seminal album Nowhere soundtracked my junior year house ("The Green Door" - don't all mythic residences get proper names?) probably more frequently than any other record. If you know what I'm talking about, go listen to the Figurine EP from these San Francisco psychgazers, from whence this track comes. Solid gold reverence to one of the early 90's best.

Recto|Verso has a great piece up entitled Radical Newspapers and 'The Graphic Design of Urgency' . F.A. Bernett Books (who's staff runs the Recto|Verso blog) came into possession a collection of 184 issues of Mid-century leftist literature spanning seven decades and have posted some choice specimens. The collection is apparently for sale; any interested parties can get in touch at the site. Recto|Verso Permalink | Comment On This Post | Tweet This Post | Add to del.icio.us [...]

Whew. "Malta" is our first look into the EP, and goodness these guys just seem to get better with everything they do. As if [...]

It's no secret that us here at QM are big fans of the dreamy LA based band Superhumanoids. Their newest EP, Urgency , does nothing but bolster our affection. There is nothing really urgent about Urgency , and that's just how we like it. Slow builds, leading to beautiful lush soundscapes, surrounding pleasant melodies, all seems to be the formula on this batch of tunes. The best way to put it is like walking through a dream- the good kind of dream, the kind you don't want to wake up from. Check out "Cranial Contest" below.. [...]
