Photos and words by Brandon Winters It was only a short time ago, The Vaccines debuted at Spaceland. Now they are on a headline tour of the US and made a stop at The Fonda with some new songs, hairdos and moves. Frontman Justin Young exclaimed “Being in LA, under the blue skies and in t-shirts in the winter, makes us feel like we have finally made it.” The crowd could not have been more excited to see the British quartet, as couples and lots of screaming girls came in droves to the sold out show. They are valley girls. They sing the blues. They're playing rock'n'roll. They sweat. They move. They groove. They walk their electric rock on all roads. Lindsey on the guitar and on the vocals, and Julie on the drums and on the vocals too. They are Deap Vally and certainly one of the best things that ever happened [...]

It wasn't too long ago that The Vaccines made their appearance at The Satellite with a debut album and no one here knew who they were. But after many festival appearances since and now a brand new sophomore album The Vaccines Come of Age , the English post-punk/pop/rock group had The Troubadour at its full attention. Dance dance dance. Photos by Walter Sy. [...]

LA's Sabrosa Purr is a collision of stoner fuzz and metal punched up by guitar rock and glam, as ethereal and enigmatic as any drug induced head trip, yet no laws need be broken in order to indulge.

The energy at The Spaceland was palpable last night for the West Coast debut of the next great U.K. guitar band, The Vaccines. However, there were two L.A. Bands opening for them, upon whom I must touch before turning my attention to the main draw. Bixby Knolls play heavy, conscious guitar pop. They seem to have a faithful coterie of followers who were quite familiar with their songs. Their lead singer plays with a confident nonchalance while emotionally interacting with the crowd through the music, a prerequisite for any successful frontman. Their sound is of the UK rock [...]
