Arabia Mountain standout "Family Tree" is the most recent single from the Mark Ronson -produced effort from the Black Lips to get the video treatment. This time around, it's much more on the NSFW side of things with puking, blood, nudity, crucifixion, guy on guy, and I imagine some animal cruelty somewhere. Arabia Mountain is available now via Vice Records. Black Lips - Family Tree

(photo by Brock Fetch) The kids of the grind/pop/thrash act The Death Set just finished some US touring with Win Win (Vice Records) aka producer XXXChange, DJ Devlin and visual wiz DJ Ghostdad. They also took a ton of photos and iPhone weirdo footage and compiled it all into two very disturbing but ultimately rewarding and hilarious bit of fun. Ok, lots of fun. If you like laser cats, snoring, graffiti, live shows, trumpets, food, laughs and maybe a dick shot or two or three, have a blast with Part 1 and Part [...]

Black Lips return, careering through 16 tracks, most of which come in under three minutes – the garage rock and tumble, it seems, remains firmly intact. This is number six for the Atlanta quartet – and they have taken a few new turns in celebration. First up they opted for Mark Ronson as producer – yes the UK Mark Ronson behind Adele and Duran Duran. His work with Amy Winehouse was enough to convince of his retro capabilities. Next resolution – spend more time in the studio – as in a year and a half rather than a [...]

MP3: Black Lips - Bicentennial Man MP3: Black Lips - New Direction So the new Black Lips record is upon, and to much surprise, it's full of hits. In the past, the Atlanta quartet's albums have been bogged down by duds, which really made for long listening—which is odd because they've always had great songs thrown in the mix. On Arabia Mountain we find them running the gamut of jangly 1960s pop, all with [...]

The Black Lips carry on the ramshackley/grungy American brand of garage rock that keeps audiences in fits and tussles, and the bar owners selling 12ouncers. That's the way I like it. The band's forthcoming album, 'Arabia Mountain' produced by celeb-producer Mick Ronson, comes out on June 7 via Vice Records. Read my Black Lips live review from 2009 . Click here to stream the whole new Black Lips release at Grooveshark . The CD kicks off with two rip-roaring stompers: a blastin' country twanger called "Family Tree", followed by the driving [...]
With a headlining tour of the states at their backs, The Raveonettes have released a new video from their critically-revered fifth LP Raven In The Grave. Boasting an eerie visual quality to match the song's haunting atmospherics, Todd Hido's ghostly clip for "Apparitions" makes uncanny use of archival footage, grainy landscapes ...

Words by Brendan with photos by Paul McKenney I've liked The Raveonettes for a while + I recently got into Tamaryn + I wrote two posts about them for this here website + They embarked on tour together + They were stopping in Washington, D.C. on a Sunday night + The Megabus has a newish route from Pgh to D.C. = My friend and I making a 24-hour round-trip excursion to D.C. to see an awesome concert. WIN WIN, the audio-visual trio composed of heavy-hitters XXXchange (the producer-half of Spank Rock), Devlin and Ghostdad, have had a momentous year already with the release of their self-titled debut out now on Vice Records and a string of collaborations, remixes and videos. WIN WIN encapsulate a wide array of ...
The Raveonettes have a brand new album out this week, Raven in the Grave , which you can preview over at Spinner. This is the sixth album from the Danish duo. "I think on this record we were more brave to go down a path and really go for it," Sharin Foo tells the Boston Globe. The band also launched a two-month North American tour this week, and then they'll return to Europe for another string of shows. Check their website for full dates. And despite being known [...]
A few weeks after the Black Lips premiered "Go Out and Get It," the first video from the Atlanta group's upcoming Arabia Mountain LP, the group debuted their smoke-induced, violet-lit cock fights (?) in, who guess, Williamsburg. The Mark Ronson -produced Arabia Mountain is due out June 7, via Vice Records. Black Lips - Modern Art

This is the latest single from Win Win , the new project fronted by Spank Rock producer XXXChange , Chris Devlin, and video artist Ghostdad. It features Alexis Taylor from Hot Chip on vocals. Win Win's self-titled full-length debut is out NOW on Vice. Interleave by WIN_WIN The video is PURE EYE CANDY (Thanks Ghostdad) and the production on this track is fucking prime! I've been personally waiting [...]
The Raveonettes don't usually stray too far from their well-honed sound which can be both a good thing and a hindrance at the same time. On one hand you know what to expect; droning, amp-splitting fuzz, dark and contemplative lyrics, and three-bit walls of sound. On the other hand though they don't really do anything new or fresh or different with their sound, or even just do anything different at all, it doesn't have to be with their sound. That being said if you liked their first album you probably liked (to varying degrees) the rest [...]
The Black Lips premiered their first new video since the release of their 2009 album 200 Million Thousand for "Go Out and Get It," a heavily surf-rock laden track produced by Mark Ronson . The video sets the Atlanta band on a Bahamas cruise full of other fun-loving white people, that was apparently a bitch to shoot . The group's new album, Arabia Mountain , is scheduled for release in June via Vice Records. The Black Lips - Go Out and Get It

Danish-bred, American-based fuzz pop duo The Raveonettes have revealed new details surrounding their fifth full-length, Raven In The Grave. The nine-track follow up to 2009's In & Out Of Control was produced by the band in New York and LA. The album is slated to hit North American stores April ...
Alright, here we go. The first single The Raveonettes' fifth full-length Raven In The Grave has been released. The single titled "Forget That Your Young" is a subtle solemn song of reverbed-out jangling guitars. Though not as fuzzy as their previous singles, there's still that balance between some minimal fuzz lurking in the background and [...]
