Canadian electro group, Austra, is currently out on tour supporting The xx during a mostly sold out run. While Austra may be the new kids on the stage, they're far from amateur and put on a great live performance. The band played most of the cuts off their debut album, Feel It Break , as well as some lesser known releases including material off of their Sparkle EP. Katie Stelmanis, the lead singer, is the core of the group and the anchor of their on-stage presence. The instrumentals were a little [...]

Atlanta concert goers were lucky enough to catch one of today's fastest rising rock bands, Unknown Mortal Orchestra , perform an intimate set at Club 529 in East Atlanta Village on Saturday night. Just a few months back the band was in town supporting Grizzly Bear at The Tabernacle, but this time the group was headlining the show with openers Foxygen and Wampire. Unknown Mortal Orchestra are currently out on a world tour promoting their second album, II , which was released on February 5th, 2013. The [...]

all photos by Sean Dackermann Prior to the holiday season of 2012, Baltimore hip hop got a dose of something it could definitely use more of in a local hip hop show case featuring likely the highest-acclaimed lyricist in its history, Los . Coors Light hooked up with the venue to put on an event that was really all about the city, bringing out the now West Coast based Bad Boy signee, while also giving a chance to some of the more [...]

photo & coverage by Alex Ramirez My friend who is an avid fan of OFWGKTA warned me about going to one of their shows. “Their shows get extremely crazy, man, and the fact that the White Rabbit is a small venue and has no barricade means it’s going to be absolutely insane.” Somehow, I thought it still wouldn’t get that crazy; I was extremely wrong. [...]

Zeds Dead as a production duo may be the saving grace of ‘dubstep’ music, always pushing boundaries, always putting on a great live show. Performing as much as possible over the last year hasn’t taken a toll on the guys devotion to getting into the lab. Last weekend during Counterpoint Music Festival the guys dropped a brand new track they’ve been working before going into a Prodigy Sample. You can catch a few seconds of it at the beginning of this track as a preview, but you’ll have to catch Zeds Dead live or wait for them [...]

Big Gigantic brought the house down on the first night of Counterpoint Music Festival yesterday. The first year festival is calling Fairburn, GA its home for the next 2 days. Dom busted out the sax in what was to be the biggest show of the evening. The tent was crowded with FSU fans belting out the seminole war chant every so often until you could start hearing the hoots and hollers for Big G. Check out these photos and be sure to keep checking back for more photos throughout the weekend. [...]

Last weekend Atlanta was lucky enough to have some of the industry’s biggest talent in town for the return of Music Midtown Festival in Peidmont Park. The lineup blended together generational gaps by adding a unique lineup including Atlanta’s own Ludacris, Foo Fighters, Grunge Pioneers; Pearl Jam, Mash Up DJ Girl Talk, and Florence + The Machine. Saturday’s festivities started mid-day and stretched well into the night. With [...]

When one hears the Kansas City legend Tech N9ne talk about being the number 1 independent rapper of all time, it's tough to really know what the hell he's talking about, especially if you've never bought one of his 12+ studio albums or followed closely. Yet seeing the man in person and stepping into a sold-out downtown venue full of people who know every word coming out of the guys' mouth, is all the convincing that someone unfamiliar might need. The presence that Tech's headlining tour alone had in Baltimore for the course of [...]

In the same evening as Santigold & Theophilus London 's Baltimore performances, the downtown area of our adored Mid-Atlantic city also got a dose of some more hard core sh*t in Tech N9ne & Machine Gun Kelly . While we at VTT were lucky enough to hit both and amazingly see all, as one might be able to imagine, the change in scene was drastic - and f*cking awesome. We've been fans of MGK for some time now, and if you listen to any Tech N9ne or at least hear [...]

Following up last week's coverage of Theophilus' set from his and Santigold 's Baltimore stop on their ongoing tour, here now are sights of the Philly headliner's performance from that night. For anyone who's seen Santigold on stage, you know it's far from your typical prog-pop performance. Beyond the exuberance and radiance that she exudes as a soloist herself, she enthusiastically enlists an animated team to join her on stage, complete with a variety of props, outfits, and acts throughout the set. [...]

There are a number of great tours going on right now that are must-sees for modern music fans. Any summer should damn well be marked with a slew of great live music, be it through eye-catching tours or increasingly-dependable festivals, and so far so good in 2012. On Tuesday 6/19 last week, Santigold & Theophilus London made their Baltimore stop at Ram's Head Live - a rare opportunity to see two ecclectic, entertaining, and increasingly improving acts in a great venue. Theophilus' set alone was solid based solely off [...]

Gary Clark Jr. and crew came through Atlanta on June 12, 2012 fresh off a Bonnaroo performance on the mainstage. Regretfully missing the chance to see him in Manchester, the show in ATL at the Variety Playhouse was a no-brainer. Anyone who has been to a festival knows about post-fest depression… and Gary Clark Jr. was the perfect cure for my bonnaroo blues. New to fame but all too familiar with the grind, Gary Clark Jr. has been one of the hardest working blues/rock guitarists in music. The Austin bred guitarist has been releasing his own [...]

f M83 came through the Masquerade last night to headline for their current tour with I Break Horses. Launching into their set with “Intro,” M83 got the night started with a bang moving into "Teen Angst,” and then "Graveyard Girl.” The show started off with a punch and then moved toward some of the slower tracks out of their discography. When the opening keys sounded off to “Fall,” a song originally written by Daft Punk the crowd roared. During the much demanded performance of “Midnight City,” the band brought out [...]

Kicking off the outdoor Spring concert season within the city of Baltimore, Mac Miller & crew touched down at Pier 6 Pavilion as part of their largely successful Macadelic tour. As mentioned previously , Mac was roading it with familiar faces The Cool Kids & Pittsburgh comrades The Come Up , playing a string of primarily college dates in heavy promo of his latest mixtape release. Check out the pics here from Mac, Tree's, & Clock's set, get back with our pics from the ATL stop here [...]

all photos by Sean Dackermann Performing as a headliner preceding Avicii at Maryland's Sweetlife Festival a couple weeks back, Kid Cudi took the stage to much anticipation. It was a great day thus far, yet the clouds were rolling in, sun was going down, and things were either about to get all the more awesome, or the hangover was coming early. I had several convos throughout the day regarding Cudi and his history of live performances, with the Cleveland kid having [...]

Saturday April the 28th marked for many a turning of the seasons in the Mid-Atlantic, as the second annual Sweetlife Festival took over the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD. Let's say 15,000 strong amongst a mild and overcast day, the crowd was everything one could want out of a single-day festival - diverse as can be. The range of attendees was naturally due to a few things, primarily the blend of acts, general green-friendly vibe of sustainable living, and the easy-accessibility of central Maryland - f*ck yes, DMV. [...]

Last month Mac Miller and The Cool Kids came through Atlanta with supporting act The Come Up Boys. GSU welcomed the Macadelic Tour with open arms while he played over 15 tracks off a mixture of projects. Mac’s stage performance has been increasingly better and it just proves how relentless the Most Dope teams is. The first time I saw Mac was early in 2010 and the chemistry between Mac and Treejay is unstoppable now. Vibe To This takes you behind stage with Mac Miller and TreeJay minutes before hitting [...]

AraabMuzik aka Abraham Orellan is currently out on tour with Zeds Dead for the "The Living Dead Tour." They stopped by the Masquerade in Atlanta, Ga for a packed house. After seeing Araab during his set at the AM Only showcase during SXSW I had to check him out again and get some shots. The dude's hands move so fast it's nearly impossible to get a good shot. Araab has a serious gift. After producing heavily for The Diplomats, Araab dove into the electronic music world. To his surprise he has been widely accepted in a genre that he had [...]

Kaskade was one of the most memorable acts of Ultra Music Festival this past year. Listen to his set below and check the photo recap as well. Click For More Photos
Little Dragon hit the Live Stage at Ultra on Saturday round around happy hour. Although all hours were happy this was actually one first show I caught at the beginning, kicking off at 5 PM. Performing songs like “Little Man,” and “Ritual Union,” Yukimi laid it down. The first time I saw Little Dragon I was blown away, the second time, no different. Little Dragon - “Little Man” “Ritual Union”
