Photo by Thomas Midgley By Hayley Scott May 08, 2013 Live At Leeds has grown in both stature and scope since its inception in 2007, into a musical metropolis that has steadily acquired a reputation as one of the best city festivals in the UK. First and foremost, Live At Leeds has always been a catalyst for exposing local, relatively unexplored talent whom tend to be the earlier acts to kick off proceedings. Leeds College of Music [...]

By Rob Aldam & Cat Schaupp March 26, 2013 Live At Leeds began back in 2007 in order to celebrate the city’s 800th birthday, but has now morphed into a much bigger event that now sprawls itself over the May Day Bank Holiday weekend. Taking place this year from the 3rd to the 6th of May, the ethos of the festival is to celebrate the best in music that Leeds has to offer, alongside featuring more established international acts. The main event takes [...]
The city of Liverpool brought us The Beatles, it’s brought us Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher, and they’ve been European Capital of Culture in 2008. It’s a city that just keeps on giving! Now, what could they have next to give? Well, how does an incredible array of exciting new names for the UK’s first big festival of the year, Liverpool Sound City resonate within? Last year saw those 2012 Mercury Prize-winning scamps alt-J grace one of the festival’s many stages, alongside teenage sensation (who isn’t One Direction) [...]

This Valentine's Day we went in three different directions this year - sentimental and dance ready. We've got everything for those who love V-Day and those who just can't stand ...
At long last our best albums of 2012 have arrived. 2012 proved to be a magical music year for indie rockers and time-tested MUF favorites. We've scoured our resources ...

As we step into 2013, we gladly continue our journey all the way down to the #1 song of 2012. But that doesn't mean it will be popular per ...

Picking just one album for the coveted position of favourite album of 2012 seemed like the most daunting and painstakingly hard task set to me. I have listened to a few fair albums this year, constantly changing my mind with every new week of releases but the album that I have chosen is an album that when I first heard it was completely blown away by and played on constant repeat for the rest of the day and subsequently for the rest of the week. It is album that I have continuously turned to either out of boredom to fill [...]
We're lucky enough here at The Wounded Jukebox to have friends and old confidants willing to send us their thoughts on the fortunate occasion. You might have seen their names at the bottom of some posts throughout the year. They live all over the United States, but we've wrangled their lists of the best and [...]

Like we always do at this time, today Ca Va Cool presents the 20 albums we collectively overplayed and played loud in 2012. The first half of our list includes some faithful R&B from the unlikely state of Colorado, past CVC favourites both noisey and subdued, psychedelic rock from the West coast of Australia, cinematic Neil Young covers, coming-of-age rap from the city of Compton, a new indie rock superduo of sorts, and turn of the century hipsters growing up. Don't read too much into that last one, we'll continue our list-making ways for years to come. [...]
As we touch on our final list from our staff, we highly recommend going back and checking out Emily, Phil, Michele and Mariane's lists. Our top 100 Songs of ...
Our year end lists are wrapping up at this point, but we wouldn't be a legitimate music site without a list of the top songs from 2012. Personally, I feel like this list is a thousand times more difficult to compose than an albums list because we're dealing with close to 400-500 songs in the running. It's been a long process trying to narrow that iTunes playlist down to 100, and I know some incredible tunes from this year are missing, but we hope you enjoy. Ladies and gentlemen, follow the jump for the ATH version of top 2012 songs. [...]

Whether in music videos, press photos, or live shows, there's no hard and fast rule on music fashion, and it's wonderful. No one's going to stop you before you get on stage and say, "Hey, you can't do that," and if they do, you can just hire a new manager. Looking at the modern indie-sphere, we've gone everywhere from ripped jeans, retro resurgence, leather overdose, Aztec patterns, and a myriad collection of hats! Couple these music fashion "innovations" with asymmetrical hair and the occasional face-paint, and you've got a heap of bands trying to stick out in the fashion world. [...]

And that's a wrap! Lollapalooza 2012... 1:30 p.m.: Polica Photo by Richard Giraldi When Polica (that's Poe-Lisa) kicked off their early afternoon set, their shadowy dance vibes filled with dub beat seemed more fitting for a damp, dark club at two in the morning than a glorious Chicago summer day. But the band didn't seem to mind bathing in the slight warm sun and really got the early fest goers moving with their crawling, mud-thick basslines [...]
Sixteen days to ready ourselves for The Walkmen’s East Coast indie rock flava.

"A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men." -Willy Wonka Bloc Party – “Octopus” Out of all the sports in the upcoming Summer Olympic Games, ribbon twirling (also known as "Rhythmic Gymnastics") is pretty low on my must-watch list. Something tells me that Bloc Party feels a bit differently. Blur – “Under the Westway” Chill out in the studio with Damon Albarn and the boys from Blur in the video for their new song, which was written especially for [...]

American indie rock band The Walkmen have released their 7th studio album Heaven , and with it 13 new tracks with which to beckon both long-time fans and newbies. If you're new to The Walkmen, you'll find they've a different kind of rock sound that harkens back to 60s music, surfers…something indefinable bearing a sweet touch of yesteryear. The new release opens with the band crooning the subdued, highly listenable "We Can't Be Beat." With its simple, likable harmonies, it has a retro sound and tasteful electric guitar to finish out.
