It wouldn't be unfathomable for Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros to make another album to rival their first album. Realistically speaking, not sure there's much of a chance to come even remotely close to "Up from Below." The Zeros have released the charming follow-up with the release "Here," and despite lacking any of the punchiness from the first album, the sophomore album plays as well as one could expect with the primary album receiving a lot more careful attention. The Walkmen appear to have reached a twilight moment in the ten plus [...]

The Walkmen 's latest album titled Heaven will be released on 6/5 via Fat Possum . Despite their hit or miss sound, one that we cannot completely sip on for a full hour, their latest track "Heaven" certainly gives a glimpse of it. It would be an understatement to say The Walkmen have certainly flown under the radar since 2002, slowly crafting their own sound and quietly slipping into everyone's back pockets only to realize, "Oh yeah, I love these guys." Although their style and intangibility to pop and mainstream indie listeners is [...]

The Walkmen have announced the follow up to "Lisbon" and a slew of live dates. The Walkmen will be releasing "Heaven" on June 5 via Fat Possum, headlining CROSSING BROOKLYN FERRY FESTIVAL and opening up for Florence + the Machine which will be played at the legendary Red Rocks on July 25. No doubt we will be sending postcards saying, " Wish You Were Here!" Check out the "Heaven" trailer below. The Walkmen - 138th Street (iTunes Live Session) [mp3]

The music outlook for this year got even better with the announcement that one my favorite bands, The Walkmen , are releasing a new album, Heaven , on June 5th. The album was produced by Phil Elk and will be released by Fat Possum / Bella Union . Rob Pecknold from Fleet Foxes reportedly offered up his vocals on the song No One Ever Speaks . It sounds like the band is planning on taking a huge step forward artistically [...]
Featuring guest vocals from Fleet Foxes' Robin Pecknold.
I know Turkey Day is drawing near, but there's still some great music leaking out today, so I'm going to try and stay on top of it. This new track from Sharon Van Etten has me really excited, and not just because it features members of The National , Walkmen and Wye Oak ; it's because I've got a bit of a crush on Sharon...and her music too! The songstress has a new album coming out titled [...]

The singer-songwriters breaks the news of her star-studded new full-length, Tramp.

Brooklyn singer-songwriter Sharon Van Etten 's 2010 album, Epic , was just that: a critically-lauded affair of earnest folk rock. On February 7th, 2012, Jagjaguwar will release her follow-up, Tramp , which itself is going to be fairly epic thanks to its all-star lineup of indie rock collaborators. Spanning 12 tracks, the album features contributions from Beirut's Zach Condon, Julianna Barwick, Wye Oak's Jenn Wasner, The Walkmen's Matt Barrick, and Doveman's Thomas Bartlett. What's more, The National's Aaron Dresner offered [...]
Our coverage of The Walkmen's impeccable show at the hMag Music Fest on 10/16 proved two things to me: they're one of the best indie-rock groups - live or otherwise - in the business today, and they're working on new material. The new song they played, tentatively titled "Your Southern Soul", was prompted by nearly

The Walkmen will also release Everyone Who Pretended To Like Me Is Gone on vinyl for the first time.
The Walkmen head into the studio this month with producer Phil Ek (Fleet Foxes, Band of Horses, The Shins) to record their sixth studio album, the much anticipated follow-up to 2010’s acclaimed Lisbon. Listen to "Stranded" off of their forthcoming album, "Lisbon" to be released via Fat Possum over here . It kind of sounds like "Silent Night" and "Cielito Lindo" mated and had a baby. The horn section is heavily involved and I wonder if they were kicking it with Calexico.
