[ Skam ] Before Autechre were Autechre, they were, for the briefest of moments, Lego Feet. Rob Brown and Sean Booth's 1991 LP under the moniker came and very quickly went on Manchester's Skam label, where another purported Autechre offshoot, Gescom, put forth its peculiar discography. In the more than 20 years that have passed since it dropped, it's developed the kind of mythic aura (and Discogs prices) [...]

Battles are in the midst of release a four-part 123 remix series called Dross Glop . The have already released the first part and are now putting out the second on February 21st through Warp Records . The second part features remixes from the Alchemist, Kode9, and Shabazz Palaces. We have the remix by the excellent Shabazz Palaces of White Electric below.

I don't know if I've ever heard/seen more debates over an artist than there have been with Sonny Moore. The man's explosion onto the EDM scene just over one year ago took everyone by surprise. Practically overnight, he went from being a niche-scene unknown into an ambassador of EDM with 8 of Beatport's top 10 slots all to himself for a at least a few weeks. I'm pretty sure that's never happened before. So this must have some significance, right? I mean we, the music-listening community, are the ones who gave Sonny his throne. Why has his music [...]

Ah this is mega ill. Kwes, the latest addition to the infamous and mega-dope Warp Recrods, remixes The Jealous Guy's Life as part of The FADER's X Squared series, where they hook up with a producer to remix a track in a collab with an MC. You can check the rest of them here (and download them all too) , and they include the likes of Hudson Mohwake and Lunice; this just happens to be my personal favourite and probably the most appropriate for Word Is Bond. (Via [...]
From his forthcoming Silent Hour / Golden Mile EP , here's another track from Grizzly Bear member Daniel Rossen, "Silent Song." The first track to drop from this forthcoming EP had a lot of subtle beauty to it. In contrast, "Silent Song" is much less, uh, silent. The opening features these strumming guitars and weeping guitar leads that could have come straight out of a classic rock tune. Daniel's vocals are a little more fiery than usual, which I like a lot. Look for this EP to drop on Warp in March. [...]

Grizzly Bear's Daniel Rossen has a solo EP coming out on Warp in March called Silent Hour/Golden Mile. 'Silent Single' is the first single from the EP, a gently rolling arrangement set to Rossen's distinctive vocal and harmonies. Last week, the more atmospheric piano number 'Saint Nothing' was revealed from the release. Tracklisting 1. Up On High 2. Silent Song 3. Return To Form 4. Saint Nothing 5. Golden Mile

Following on from the sparse and sombre 'Saint Nothing' , here's another new song from the latest Grizzly Bear to rock a side-project . Both tracks will feature on his Warp Records EP, Silent Hour/Golden Mile , out March 20th in America and March 19th in the UK. No offense to Chris Taylor , but I think Daniel Rossen is better. Grizzly fight! 'Silent Song' -James [...]

(Or perhaps not…) Terrific, truly out of the ordinary record downloaded from Emusic this week, one which has occupied the car stereo since Tuesday, and shows no signs of relinquishing its grasp… Gonjasufi I value songwriting skills, I like a good lyric and whilst not being a musician I still appreciate clever, skilful or innovative musicianship. Having said that (and tried to make myself sound like a semi-serious muso), I'll have to admit that I'm a complete sucker for the effects and the general feel of a record. I often don't pay [...]

Gonjasufi - MU.ZZ.LE By Antonio Tzikas Crackling and buzzing through your speakers like a transmission from the depths, MU.ZZ.LE is a solemn and experimental mixture of broken, disjointed, lo-fi hip-hop and haunting, croaky soul. The latest offering from Warp Records' Gonjasufi (Sumach Ecks), this record was written out on the road, recorded back at his home studio and acts as a compilation of experiences and emotions garnered throughout his travels. The 'weary traveller' element of the songs comes across as much in the production as it [...]
This February, Battles will be dropping a remix series of songs from one of my favorite 2011 albums, Gloss Drop . You can subscribe to the series over at Bleep . Stream two of the tracks from the series thus far above. / via /
Larry Hryb (a.k.a Major Nelson), Director of Programming for Xbox Live, has announced via his blog the release dates for games set to feature in the upcoming Xbox Live Arcade House Party Season. In anticipation of My Best Fiend's upcoming release In Ghostlike Fading , producer Young Montana? is enlisted to do an official reworking of lead single " Higher Palms ". While the track is phenomenal in its original state, Montana does a superb job of captivating us with his droning samples and slick production. In Ghostlike Fading will be available Feb. 21 via Warp . Hit the skip to stream the remix.

I've been meaning to get around to this for a while. At first I wanted to post some of Broadcast's B-sides and rarities after covering their three main albums in the Warped posts, but then while searching for recordings of Broadcast live (which are very hard to come by) I found this. A bootleg of a show in Australia, and of their last ever performances. It's been just over a year since the untimely death of lead singer Trish Keenan, who continues to remain one of my favourite voices in music. Broadcast were underrated for their entire recording career which [...]
Iradelphic, the new full-length from Clark, arrives on April 2 through Warp. Enter your email...

Tune the radio to a distant studio out in the Mojave Desert, where Gonjasufi creates and produces his latest. The crackling bandwidth sheds the bigger sounds and samples delivered on his Gaslamp Killer produced debut A Sufi and a Killer , turning the dial to messy, treble-maxed beats and cut-up string lines for drips of atmosphere. Introductions are never easy, but Gonjasufi is happy to throw a few difficult numbers to open the set. White Picket Fence is like a piece of smooth jazz vinyl being spun slowly in reverse. Feedin' Birds follows [...]

♩ Daniel Rossen - Saint Nothing

I can honestly say everything this man does is completely inspired - whether it's under the name Grizzly Bear or Department Of Eagles , songwriter Daniel Rossen is an expert at his trade. That's probably why Warp Records are releasing a solo EP of his work in March, entitled Silent Hour / Golden Mile . The first track has been released and it's heartbreaking. There's something in Rossen's voice that's so stripped-back and semi-worried, something like a melancholic Cat Stevens , or thereabouts if I had to make a comparison. He's an essential element to [...]
