RR The sticky song of the week award goes to Washed Out for creating a fantastically dreamy remix of My Morning Jacket’s “Outta My System” that has been in my head ALL week. The chorus sounds like it’s floating through space and he replaced most of the lyrics with trippy spoken-word interludes about the capabilities of the mind and beyond. WASHED OUT (aka Earnest Greene), recently voted Georgia’s Dreamiest Electronic Musician (by me), has turned MY MORNING JACKET ’s ‘Outta My System’ from a slow burn psychedelic stomper to a sparkling piece of err… slow burn psychedelia? My Morning Jacket will be releasing a new EP tomorrow, titled Outta My System – Remixez Y Friendz , which sees them bringing along some friends to remix their song "Outta My System", which was originally part of their 2011 LP Circuital . Included in that "friends" category are folks such as Dave Sitek and Washed Out, who have lent their respective abilities to tweaking and tinkering with MMJ's track. Washed Out is without a doubt one of my favourite artists of the past 5 years. He's put together this ridiculously blissful remix of Outta My System by My Morning Jacket , it's part of a series set to be released as an EP, Outta My System Remixez Y Friendz which also features Dave Sitek. My Morning Jacket kicked off the American leg of their "Spontaneous Curation Series" tour last night in Salt Lake City, and fans created quite a setlist . To celebrate the series, the has released the first remix from its forthcoming Outta My System: Remixez Y Friendz EP. Chillwave institutor Washed Out forgoes all of the urgency of the original Circuital cut, leaving a spacey, twinkling tune with a soft beat.
