When we did our feature on Binary Entertainment last August, a band that particularly caught our attention was the electronic, pop duo FLASHLIGHTS , who consist of band members Ethan Converse and Sam Martin Rande. Sumsun is the musical project of West Palm Beach native Judson Rodgers and if I had to describe his sound in one word, I would probably go with "fluid." Like the pristine waters he's originally from, the notes that Sumsun pieces together flow as if they were waves gently skimming over the coast of a beach. Wow, this is gorgeous! The American duo Vindata did the an excellent remix for "Still Sound" from Toro Y Moi. This is so smooth and amazingly good. Obviously the original is unbeatable, but perhaps this is the best remix of this track. I don't want to be tendentious, but these guys have taken this track into another level. Swedish, electronic pop producer NIVA is back and with a brand-new remix to songstress Halin Larsson, who just so happens to be from Sweden as well. For anyone who has heard the original, it sounds nothing like what NIVA manages to put together within this track. Owsey, pronounced "O-zee" has a fantastic sound that is only growing on me with each new tune. This track, "Cya!" is unique because it has a drum and bass instrumental rhythm, yet is very peaceful at the same time. The blends of sounds create a wonderful composition that let your mind escape any current worries. Whether its the slight vocals or the uplifting flute, each is layered perfectly.
