Somehow my roommate Young Waves managed to make a very solid (and solid sounding, production-wise) EP of soundscape-y tracks with some shitty little recorder thing. Though I'm not the biggest fan of ambient music, I'll give him kudos for this one, a fully respectable work. However, not sure why I didn't get any kind of thank you on his bandcamp page for lending him my drum machine, mic, guitar, pedals, patch chords, 1/4 inch-to-headphones adapter (all used on the recordings) and infinite patience (ahem ahem)... I'm going to be honest: I had never heard any Moving Mountains tracks before I listened to Waves . I expected to hear another Explosions In The Sky or Godspeed You! Black Emperor Clone: I was completely wrong. Waves by Moving Mountains is definitely a post-rock album, but it is heavily influenced by hardcore, pop and standard indie rock.
