The weekend is kicking off, but I wanted to get one more post out there from the homie Kosha Dillz. Spitting over Wavves's "I Wanna Meet Dave Grohl", Kosha tells us why his favorite rapper is a huge douche. "My Favorite Rapper is a Dick" will land on the JetLag EP, which is set to drop for free. Hit the skip to stream the song.
KYNAN - I Fly So High This song randomly appeared on my dash a couple of days ago. It's weird, it's funky (pop-y but also retro and electronic). The music video is so l-phi I'm not sure what to make of it but I think that's kind of the appeal; and the truth is I Fly So High has been stuck in my head for the last 48 hours. It's super catchy. The stop-motion quality of its music video is actually kind of endearing - it fits the vibe of the sound perfectly. Plus, the [...]
Filed under: News , Exclusive , The Hit List Getty Images (2) If it seems like the hip new bands of 2012 remind you of something you've heard before, one, you're old, but two, you're right. The adage "everything old is new again" is particularly applicable to modern music and there are a lot of acts who feel mighty familiar right now. Sensing a time-based forensic piece, we jumped in the Official Spinner [...]
Last weekend, Backstage Rider 's Mikala Taylor hit the high seas for five days of distortion. She returned safely and unscathed, though we can't speak for her ears. We're pretty sure she had a blast, nonetheless, but we'll let the photos do the talking. We're not sure when, exactly, the full surrealism of being on a boat sailing from Miami to Mexico as part of The Weezer Cruise actually hit. Was it when Weezer played "Hash Pipe" shortly after the ship's horns sounded and we left Vice City? Or was it [...]

Following in the footsteps of a number of legacy artists looking to connect with a younger audience, Dr. John tapped Black Keys guitarist Dan Auerbach to produce his latest studio album, Locked Down. The album, which will hit stores on April 3 via Nonesuch Records, was recorded at Auerbach's Easy Eye Sound in Nashville and features a number of young artists handpicked by him to play alongside the Night Tripper . As part of the promotion for the album, it was announced that Mac will play a three-weekend residency at the Brooklyn Academy of Music [...]

A whirlwind week such as this could only end with a bang. Suffice to say, that's exactly what we have here. Jay-Z ( and his child)? Leonard Cohen? The Shins? Three juggernaut names that could easily headline any number of top lists. But, alas, there's more - plenty more. On a side note, Jeremy Larson will no longer be spearheading this feature. Now that he's become more involved with other CoS -related activities, he's decided to pass on the reins to Möhammad Choudhery. Good things lie ahead. -Winston Robbins Senior Staff [...]
Nathan Williams of Wavves took to twitter last night to post a new track, a cover of the Misfits classic "Hybrid Moments." It's admittedly rough (Williams later tweeted "I didn't tune my guitar and I think the chorus goes once more in the end") but who cares when it's this good, and isn't roughness what made us all get into Wavves in the first place? Ahhhhh what a way to start off a glorious Friday. Nathan Williams AKA Wavves has let loose a cover of the Misfits' "Hybrid Moments" and it's a fuzzy scream of goodness. He put the song up via his Twitter page and the results are a heavily distorted fuzzed out hat tip to Misfits. See for yourselves below. Let's have some more material from the King of the Beach again this year. That'd be great. Wavves - "Hybrid Moments" [...]

At some point, pretty much every American punk band has to cover the Misfits. It's practically a requirement. My own high school band only played two shows, but we still found time to put together a "Last Caress" cover. And we might've also done "Teenagers From Mars" too? I forget. Anyway, Wavves have just gone through that particular rite of passage. Nathan Williams posted a lo-fi, clappy rendition of " Hybrid Moments " on his Twitter "as a tribute to the band," and you can download it below. Read More...

Wavves has that surfer rock sound that clearly draws influence from the punk rock scene. In homage to one of his favorite punk bands, The Misfits , frontman Nathan Williams tweeted an impromptu cover of the classic tune "Hybrid Moments" . Wavves should come back to Philly again since I slept on their show last go round.
As he's done so in the past , Wavves frontman Nathan Williams recently took to Twitter to deliver an homage to one of his punk idols. This time around, Williams dialed back the time machine to rework The Misfits' "Hybrid Moments". The end result sounds distinctly like old school Wavves, with a simple structure and loads of feedback and distortion. It's perhaps not as hard-hitting as the original, but Williams' stoner touch makes this worth a spin or two. Check it out below. Wavves - "Hybrid Moments" (Misfits cover) [...]
