Wax Fang . Cabin . Riverfront show. Free. Doesn't get much better than this. It is all going down Saturday, September 24, 2011 at the New Albany Riverfront Amphitheater. Cabin goes on at 7:30 and Wax Fang will play immediately thereafter (ignore the times on the "flyer" below). I'm sure you all are familiar with each of these bands, so I'll save my breath. As you have probably ascertained, given Dodge's lineage, MOKB has something of an open door policy regarding artists from Louisville. The latest entry from River City comes from The Fervor , a female-fronted americana-esque quartet that has only recently released their latest, Arise, Great Warrior . Single Crazy For The Feeling was directed by Wax Fang's Scott Carney and Ryan Daly of the Louisville Film Society, and shot on location in Louisville and historic New Albany, Indiana.

Jim James' record label Removador Records and Solutions has announced that Wax Fang is the latest band to join the label's roster. The band will release an epic track "The Astronaut Part I". Those who caught Wax Fang at Forecastle should remember the song. I know it will feature the theremin and Cheyenne Marie Mize, so how bad can it be, really? The track is one half of the forth-coming digital EP "The Astronaut", which is due out early 2011. You can hear teasers on the band's removador [...]

As previewed in our recent interview with Ms. Mize, Cheyenne will release her debut LP, Before Lately, on October 12th. She released a video this week for the song "Friend". The video was shot in the Rathskellar Room, which hosted this year's Louisville is for Lovers blow out with Jim James. He fronts and motors Wax Fang, a three-piece, Louisville-based guitarmy that we (and My Morning Jacket's Jim James) count as one of our favorite rock bands right now. He's playing "Avant Guardian Angel," an instrumental highlight from 2008's La La Land , at WRFL, the student-run station at the University of Kentucky in Lexington.
