RAVE’S FAVE: The Walkmen – We Can’t Be Beat

RAVE’S FAVE: The Walkmen – We Can’t Be Beat Of all the newest albums, it seems The Walkmen's Heaven is getting the most raves in chats I'm having with friends. True, these New York dudes are in fine form this time around. A few weeks ago, I posted "Heartbreaker", which I feel would be a strong single. "We Can't Be Beat" leads off the album. It's acoustic, with a soothing, inspiring melody and beautiful harmonies. Perfect for late summer nights, or early weekend mornings…or anytime for that matter. - By Bruce Rave The Walkmen - We Can't [...]

Listen: The Walkmen – Heaven (Full Album Stream)

When The Walkmen dropped their last album "Lisbon" in 2010 I was pretty excited by the singles they dropped before its release, and then when I listened to the album as a whole it left me underwhelmed, though I seemed to be in the minority on that one. That's cool, though. I just went back to listening to "Bows + Arrows" and "You And Me" . Things are different this time around, however. We've heard four songs from the album in the last few weeks, those being [...]

Listen: The Walkmen – “The House You Made”

Listen to The Walkmen 's new song "The House You Made" below, from their album "Heaven" . It's curious to me that in the space of four weeks we've now heard four new songs from The Walkmen's upcoming album "Heaven". To count, we've heard "We Can't Be Beat" , "Heartbreaker" , and title track "Heaven" . It's curious because it's not often that we get this kind of output in the run-up [...]

The Walkmen - We Can’t Be Beat

The Walkmen - We Can’t Be Beat

We’ve already heard “Heaven” and...

We’ve already heard “Heaven” and... We’ve already heard “ Heaven ” and “ Heartbreaker ” off of The Walkmen ’s upcoming record Heaven , but today we get another nugget. “We Can’t Be Beat” is the most tame of the three, but it might be my favorite. What starts out as a tender acoustic delves into a rousing Southern Bar singalong. Hamilton sounds fantastic on this, belting out constant bravado. This is a bit of a mission statement, clearing stating that The Walkmen won’t ever lose at this music game. Record will be out May 29th through [...]

Stream: The Walkmen – “We Can’t Be Beat”

Stream: The Walkmen – “We Can’t Be Beat” It seems that a majority of bands are realizing that building up anticipation for an upcoming release is about more than just sending out new tour dates and 30 seconds clips but that fans want to hear full length tracks and as many of them as possible before release day. The Walkmen have taken this same path and so far we've heard 3 tracks off of Heaven . The title track was an upbeat track that grabbed hold on the first note and didn't let go until the final chord while "Heartbreaker" and a definitive throw back [...]

We Can’t Be Beat

We Can’t Be Beat Its true, they can't. "We Can't Be Beat" is the lead track from the Walkmen 's upcoming album  Heaven, on May 29th.The record is the band's sixth and was produced by Phil Ek (Fleet Foxes, Shins, Band of Horses). Pre-order the album at their website .

The Walkmen – We Can’t Be Beat

The Walkmen – We Can’t Be Beat Philly/NYC quintet The Walkmen recently released the title track off their upcoming album Heaven a week earlier than originally scheduled. Now the band has released another cut off the album, "We Can't Be Beat." If the song is any indication of Heaven 's direction, its title could not be more accurate. "We Can't Be Beat" starts with a slow, acoustic guitar melody, frontman Hamilton Leithauser's distinctively sonorous vocals and soft vocal harmonies from the rest of the band, setting the tone for some decidedly reminiscent [...]

Ouça: The Walkmen – We Can’t Be Beat

Ouça: The Walkmen – We Can’t Be Beat Vamos lá, sem perder as contas: do novo álbum do The Walkmen , Heaven , que será lançado no dia 29 de maio, nós já ouvimos a faixa que dá nome ao disco , Heartbreaker , e Southern Heart . Agora, a quarta faixa é We Can’t Be Beat , uma deliciosa canção acústica, com violão crescentes, e muito "ôôô" pra galera cantar junto. Grandes expectativas com esse lançamento!

Listen: The Walkmen – We Can’t Be Beat

Listen: The Walkmen – We Can’t Be Beat We've already heard quite a few cuts from The Walkmen's upcoming 7th album, Heaven , which is due out in June. And now we have another. Not that we're complaining. 'We Can't Be Beat' is a lovely acoustic lament that builds into a warm-hearted foot-stomper in its closing stages. When describing  Heaven , singer Hamilton Leithauser says: "The detachment you can feel throughout our younger records is gone.  We felt like it was time to make a bigger, more generous statement."  Hurry up June the 4th.

Listen To A New Walkmen Song – ‘We Can’t Be Beat’

'We Can't Be Beat' is taken from The Walkmen's forthcoming album Heaven, out in Ireland on May 25. The band today announced an Irish date at Vicar Street on October 29. Tickets, priced €26 (plus TM fees) go on sale Friday.

The Walkmen: "We Can't Be Beat"

The Walkmen: "We Can't Be Beat" We had the distinct pleasure of listening to this cut a few weeks ago, and are thrilled that the band has decided to release this as their next focus track. It's a clear departure from everything in The Walkmen's past - it's stripped bare, song focused, and clear-voiced. Look for similar sonic clarity throughout their new album Heaven (May 29, Fat Possum) as this is the first time the band has actually worked with a producer (Phil Ek (Fleet Foxes, Shins, Band of Horses)), and are clearly taking a song-first approach. It's [...]

Listen: The Walkmen – “We Can’t Be Beat”

Listen to The Walkmen 's new song "We Can't Be Beat" below, from their new album "Heaven" . At this rate we'll have heard the entire album in soundbites before it's released, but I can't say I'm complaining. Already we've heard the title track "Heaven" and "Heartbreaker" , as well as couple of others having been played live. The Walkmen have released another song from their forthcoming 7th new [...]

The Walkmen: “We Can’t Be Beat”

It's great to see talented bands like The Walkmen celebrating their 10th year as a band. And it's great to hear that they're still tweaking things even after this long. "We Can't Be Beat" is the ultimate slow-burner - all strummed guitar and brilliant vocals from Hamilton Leithauser - that builds to some really great [...]

The Walkmen - We Can't Be Beat

The Walkmen - We Can't Be Beat     The Walkmen nos presenta "We Can't Be Beat", la rola con la que abre su nueva producción Heaven (Mayo 29). Tranquila, tranquila pero buena para empezar el martes. Enjoy.

Stream: The Walkmen – Live On World Cafe

Stream: The Walkmen – Live On World Cafe I'd been meaning to immerse myself in the Walkmen after their last album Lisbon was released in 2010, but ever since seeing the trailer for their new album Heaven a couple months back I've become absolutely obsessed with this band. Listening to Lisbon on the drive to Santa Barbara last month, something finally clicked and I've since been catching up with the band's previous releases, as well as familiarizing myself with some of their newer songs like "Heaven" and "Heartbreaker." The Walkmen performed both songs on NPR's World Cafe this past Friday, along with three [...]
