Of all the newest albums, it seems The Walkmen's Heaven is getting the most raves in chats I'm having with friends. True, these New York dudes are in fine form this time around. We’ve already heard “ Heaven ” and “ Heartbreaker ” off of The Walkmen ’s upcoming record Heaven , but today we get another nugget. “We Can’t Be Beat” is the most tame of the three, but it might be my favorite. It seems that a majority of bands are realizing that building up anticipation for an upcoming release is about more than just sending out new tour dates and 30 seconds clips but that fans want to hear full length tracks and as many of them as possible before release day. The Walkmen have taken this same path and so far we've heard 3 tracks off of Heaven . Philly/NYC quintet The Walkmen recently released the title track off their upcoming album Heaven a week earlier than originally scheduled. Now the band has released another cut off the album, "We Can't Be Beat." If the song is any indication of Heaven 's direction, its title could not be more accurate. We've already heard quite a few cuts from The Walkmen's upcoming 7th album, Heaven , which is due out in June. And now we have another. Not that we're complaining. 'We Can't Be Beat' is a lovely acoustic lament that builds into a warm-hearted foot-stomper in its closing stages. When describing  Heaven , singer Hamilton Leithauser says: "The detachment you can feel throughout our younger records is gone.  We felt like it was time to make a bigger, more generous statement."  Hurry up June the 4th.

'We Can't Be Beat' is taken from The Walkmen's forthcoming album Heaven, out in Ireland on May 25. The band today announced an Irish date at Vicar Street on October 29. Tickets, priced €26 (plus TM fees) go on sale Friday.

We had the distinct pleasure of listening to this cut a few weeks ago, and are thrilled that the band has decided to release this as their next focus track. It's a clear departure from everything in The Walkmen's past - it's stripped bare, song focused, and clear-voiced.
