The Weeknd's Abel Tesfaye is finally readying the release of his debut album proper, after the mixtape sagas of 2011 and 2012. 'Kiss Land' - the title track from it - is the first glimpse we've been given. A sprawling, eight-minute epic, it is a fascinating listen complete with twists and turns, odd samples and of course, Tesfaye's mesmerising croon. Amazingly, earlier this year The Weeknd announced an arena tour of the UK, a bold move for such a new artist but it pretty much encapsulates the confidence that drips throughout his work.

At long last, everyone's favourite alternative R&B artist The Weeknd has revealed the first piece of new music from his upcoming album Kiss Land . The album's title track "Kiss Land" is close to eight minutes long and is the first new solo music we've heard since he dropped his Echoes Of Silence mixtape in 2011. Kiss Land (the album) is due to be released in late Summer/early Autumn, [...]
French Montana's dullness can't be saved by The Weeknd's crooning or Danny's unlikely production placement. Montana's debut album " Excuse my French " will be ignored world wide next week when it's released to a trashcan near you. The post French Montana feat. The Weeknd - Gifted (Prod. Danny!) appeared first on TAPEDECK .

Atlanta as of late has had nothing but success in the music world. Whether mainstream or underground artist, there must be something in that water, cause they got that heat! Tri Randall recently released his debut EP "Satia" which can easily be renamed "Beats For the Lovas" - just my suggestion though. The 7 track project infuses bangin' 8082s with feel good sounds all around. Just think The Dream and The Weeknd all rolled into one, straight fire. Tracklist: [...]

Having stopped by Jools Holland on Tuesday night, it would have been rude for Abel Tesfaye not to stop in on long-time fan Zane Lowe. Last night the ever enthusiastic Kiwi aired The Weeknd's debut Maida Vale session, which was every bit as jaw-dropping as his appearance on Jools. Tesfaye and his group played four songs from the reissued Trilogy, a collection of his three debut mixtapes. Listen to all four tracks below. Trilogy is out now.

If the remixing, re-packaging and re-releasing of his three mixtapes under the Trilogy umbrella and a slot on Jools Holland has told us anything, it's that Universal Republic think this is the right time for Abel Tesfaye to make his mainstream crossover. And there is no denying that his is music that deserves to be heard by infinetly more than currently are. Over the course of four-and-a-half minutes he stole the show from the clutches of the prorgramme's other performers of note, Lana Del Rey and Palma Violets. His voice, along with a beefy [...]

"Tesfaye's music takes you to another place. There is nothing else to do but to keep it on repeat and never come back..." The Weekend | Trilogy For the large part of The Weeknd fans reading this, you will already have all of his songs safely stored on your iPod. Yet, for those who are blissfully unaware of Abel Tesfaye’s The Weeknd, Trilogy - made up of three remastered mix tape and released under Universal Republic and his own label XO - is the best musical introduction of an r'n'b artist that [...]

The Weeknd drop their trio of reissued mixtapes very soon, so it's only fitting that we finally hear one of the few new tracks that will accompany the old tracks. 'Twenty Eight' is a welcome addition to Abel Tesfaye's aresenal, adopting more of a straight up RnB tone than the slowest-of-the slow-jams that he became well for. Lets not carried away thought, this is hardly 180bpm punk. Things still swing by in a relaxed, casual manner and Tesfaye's falsetto croon is still as wonderful as ever. Listen below to 'Twenty Eight'.

The Weeknd premiered a new song, "Twenty Eight" on Zane Lowe's BBC Radio 1 program today. "Twenty Eight" will be one of three all-new tracks appearing on The Weeknd's 3 part mixtape re-release Trilogy . Lowe also teased an upcoming interview with Abel Tesfaye; his first official on-air interview. Stream "Twenty Eight" below and let us know how you feel. Are re-releases with 3 or so bonus tracks pointless? Stream: The Weeknd - "Twenty Eight" |

You know when you go to a show to see one band but are then unexpectedly blown away by the opening band to a point where you feel like you're satisfied and don't even need to see the headlining act for it to be a successful evening? That's what happened when these guys blew me away with their live show a few weeks back. Movement formed in Sydney about a year ago and was originally a duo consisting of Sean Walker (percussion, samples) and Jesse James Ward (bass, synths) until becoming [...]

There are a few things now expected from new singles from The Weeknd: sex, drugs and beats. New release, 'The Enemy' - which has dropped completely seperately from his upcoming remastered mixtapes under the umbrella name Trilogy - has them all in spades. It also, quite brilliantly, manages to crowbar the chorus from The Smiths' 'Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want', into its own four minutes. It's a hipster's wet dream. Trilogy is released on November 13th.

It seems like 2012 has been a breakthrough year for Sharon Van Etten . After the moderate success of her first two albums, Because I Was In Love and Epic from 2009 and 2010, respectively, she seems to have only reached a much wider audience with the release of this year's absolutely stellar Tramp . It's an album we've loved for a while here (you can expect to see it at least in the top [...]
