As if their debut album Welcome Reality wasn't cinematic enough, Nero have concocted a haunting, orchestral composition for Baz Luhrmann's film adaptation of the F. Scott Fitzgerald classic, The Great Gatsby . "Into The Past" is a gorgeously dark production, making use of foreboding reverb, sparsely placed kicks and snares, and ethereal vocals from Alana Watson to craft quite the visceral experience. When combined with the emotional absorption of a full-feature blockbuster, the power of Nero's "Into the Past" on the big screen will undoubtedly be cathartic. The official soundtrack for The Great Gatsby is due out May 7th on Interscope [...]
When I think Nero Essential Mix , I think "instant classic." This Essential Mix from back in 2010 was undoubtedly the catalyst to Nero's rising star in the UK dubstep scene and beyond. This was Nero pre- Welcome Reality. The mix starts off bass-heavy with the now hugely legendary Flux Pavilion remix of "Cracks" and their own remix of Plan B 's "The Recluse" and moves into French electro like Alan Braxe , Kavinsky, and Thomas Bangalter. Nero sprinkle in many of their own originals and showcase basically every huge name in dubstep [...]
Trance and progressive house producers Maor Levi and Ilan Bluestone have just released a free download of their take on Nero' s "Guilt." The track is the third single from the dubstep production team's 2011 seminal work Welcome Reality. This seems to be on-trend with some of Maor's more recent fusions of trance and bass-heavier genres (hint: his podcast is called Moar Bass ) but this is a little bit of a departure for Ilan, who has been highlighting his skill in progressive trance compositions like " Capetown " and " [...]

Nero’s ace debut album ‘Welcome Reality’ from last year was yet another example of dub-step truly dropping on the mainstream. A year on and still going strong, the duo have released this new track after considerable play in their live set. For all its atmospheric synths, it lacks the drama of their best work and uses the same repeated vocal sample throughout. Dub-step is all about the drop, though and here it doesn’t disappoint, descending into a powerful concoction of [...]
The preeminent dubstep duo, Nero , deliver yet another monstrous dubstep masterpiece. "Won't You Be There" is quintessential Nero , a stunning mix of echoing synths and howling vocals that builds dramatically before dropping into a gut-punching, bass laden breakdown. A club tune through and through, Daniel Stephen's pointed out to SPIN that with Nero 's new album slated for a 2013 release, "Won't You Be There" is; "Just a cool release to put out there to fill the gap while we work on our next album. With the way the [...]

Nero , who chatted with us at the end of last year (see video below), have had more hits off Welcome Reality than the Republicans have had candidates in the current Presidential race. After issuing breakthrough singles "Innocence," "Guilt," "Promises," and "Me & You," the group — Joe Ray, Dan Stephens, and Alana Watson — have '80s sample track pumper "Must Be The Feeling" re-imagined by bass kingpins South Central . The results are, of course, sonically spectacular. But don't take my word for it. Download it below and enjoy.

EA Games ' Syndicate ' (a reboot of the original 1993 game) has been making a splash via their collaborative efforts with EDM producers such as Flux Pavilion , Digitalism , and 3-time Grammy winner Skrillex . The latest to be released is an exclusive remix of the Syndicate theme song by UK's coolest dubstep and drum & bass duo NERO . London-based dubstep outfit Nero took 2011 by storm, touring all over the world and issuing their accalaimed debut album, Welcome Reality . Featuring their breakthrough hit "Innocence," the full-length also contained equally enticing tracks like "Me & You" and "Guilt." We caught up with Dan Stephens and vocalist Alana Watson before their sold-out gig at Webster Hall in New York City and asked them to reflect on "the best year ever."
Watch the official video for their track "Must Be The Feeling" from Welcome Reality which features Nero taking on a futurist world with the his high tech equipped DeLorean
NERO has announced 'Must Be The Feeling' as the last single off 'Welcome Reality' and it is due out March 4th on MTA Records . Their killer line-up of remixes include Flux Pavilion & NERO, SebastiAn , Azari & III , Kill The Noise , and Brookes Brothers . All of NERO's music videos from singles off their debut album 'Welcome Reality' have had this futuristic 802s theme to them and surprisingly everyone's still loving it. 'Must Be The Feeling' is no different; the video starts out with Joe and [...]

Possibly the coolest kids in EDM, MTA Records ' NERO (aka Dan Stephens, Joe Ray, and their singer Alana Watson ), are coming back to the US for another tour this Spring. NERO's been super busy this past year including the release of their album ' Welcome Reality ', a massive UK and US tour, releasing six singles from their album (with a seventh on the way), and getting signed to Interscope Records . The futuristic, leather jacket and night time sunglass-wearing group just announced their 13-stop 'Second Reality' US tour . This time [...]

With Welcome Reality , Nero assures us yet again that they are one of the more adept acts at capitalizing on the economy of a formulaic (and, let’s be real, tired) subgenre such as dubstep, crafting original works that stretch its rigid boundaries to incorporate a wealth of influences and genres that don’t suck. At its best, their debut full-length reflects those influences as well as Nero’s compositional deftness, and in spades; at its worst, it reflects, well, shittier Nero. With their highly recognizable and crafty remixes of everyone and their mothers, we were afforded a taste of their [...]

I wouldn’t be surprised if music journalists across the globe are running out of positive things to say about the indescribable dubstep duo Nero . I say this as a compliment. It’s a shocker that Dan Stephens and Joe Ray are just now getting ready to release their debut album, Welcome Reality , in the States on December 13 via Cherry Tree and Interscope Records . Nero becoming a household name isn’t far off. They continue to receive outstanding support from artists far and wide and their fan base is damn [...]
Nero is set to release " Crush On You " as their next single from their best-selling new album, " Welcome Reality ". This song is a remake of the Jet's "Crush On You" . In typical Nero style, the British boys have reworked the sound to a banger that starts off poppy then gets real dirty. At around the 2:17 minute mark the song get all new-wave 802s then comes back to bass slap you with the filthy wobbles the world has come to expect from dubstep. I personally think this might be a [...]

Nero - Welcome Reality By Stephanie Stevens-Wade Nero play a pretty good part in ripping other artists' songs to shreds and making them their own. 'Blinded by the Lights' and 'In for the Kill' were overplayed until either our ear drums or speakers gave way, but does their debut album Welcome Reality have the same effect? Drum and bass and dubstep duo Daniel Stephens and Joe Ray have been on the underground scene for years gradually launching themselves into [...]

Okay, look — we'll be the first to admit that we like to try and tie things up as neatly and cohesively as possible here at MT HQ, and when our weekly batch of new-release picks seems to sport some kind of a theme, even a loose one, we're not above underlining it. This time around, however, it's just not gonna happen. There's simply too much stylistic ground being covered across the sonic spectrum we've staked out this week, from dubsteppers diving into the mainstream to dance-poppers pushing it to the next level, and drum & bass doyens making mixes [...]
