It's worrying to think that, 6 months ago, most people hadn't even heard of Scott Mescudi, or Kid Cudi as he is now known in the industry. And yet, Cudi has already threatened to bow out, having achieved his dream in that time. Where did he come from, and how did this 25 year old from Cleveland, Ohio work out the path of least resistance so easily? His story is a nice reminder that the music business still moves incredibly quickly. I can't think of many other industries (barring film) where a man can start off as a [...]
The new big video effect that has people buzzing is called "Data Moshing." It's been most recently used in Kanye West's "Welcome to Heartbreak", who rushed it out to beat out another artist who planned on using the same effect. Ray Tintori used the same effect (before Kanye) for "Evident Utensil." In my opinion this video is ten times fresher. And finally a snippet from David O'Reilly's blog, who is said to have invented [...]
KANYE WEST "Welcome To Heartbreak" Directed by Nabil from nabil elderkin on Vimeo .

From a song on Kanye's 808's & Heartbreak, here's a remix by Robin Da Hood.

Although he plans to release "Amazing" as his next single, KanYe West has filmed a music video for his intro track (I'm aware it's track 2 on the album), "Welcome to Heartbreak." The song sets the tone for the rest of 808s and Heartbreak : a morose boom. The video begins like an old VHS tape and then starts to look like a scratched DVD. This technique creates some truly impressive visuals. This would have been a great single - maybe even better than "Amazing" will be. Enjoy the [...]

So here's the new video for what was presumably going to the next single from 808s & Heartbreak, the middling Welcome to Heartbreak . Until Chairlift dropped their video for the middling Evident Utensil a week beforehand... I don't see why he needs to drop it. It's not as if he's been bashful about aping other artists work in the past, not that that's the case here, I presume it's just an unlucky coincidence in this case, but everyone [...]

A good friend of mine showed me this, and I was in total AWWE! Check out the video for Kanye West ft. Kid Cudi for "Welcome To Heartbreak" Directed by Nabil . What's so nice about this video is that he manipulates the colors and plays with bad compression effects... check it out: thanks lunice
I was away for a minute there and I have to go again, but I love this video...The song I don't know... I love this video
"This is not the next single, "Amazing" is the next single. This is the video we've been working on for the last month. We know there is another video out there using the same technique so we were forced to drop it now." [ kanye ]
KANYE WEST "Welcome To Heartbreak" Directed by Nabil Kanye West ft. Kid Cudi- Welcome To Heartbreak (Link 2) 'Welcome To Heartbreak' was the perfect opening for '808's & Heartbreak'. It was equal parts solemn and epic, included a great featuring spot from Kid Cudi, and was arguably the strongest song (lyrically) on the album. I'm disappointed the song wasn't chosen as a single ('Amazing' is being released, instead), but the new video matches the song's quality. There are some nice frame and lighting effects [...]
Newest visual from Lionel Ritchie Kanye West and Kid CuDi off the highly debated 808s & Heartbreak album (which pops up in the rotation every few weeks). I was just listening to this album Sunday night on the way from the bar to Waffle House and this song always manages to get on a repeat for about 3-4 spins, especially after a drink or two. This is a Bond Intro/'80's green screen mash-up that we used to see on MTV/VH1 or could've been made at a local mall. [...]
By now you've either expressed undying love for Kanye or your extreme disappointment for his genre bending 808's and Heartbreak. Somehow through all this, his videos have maintained a high level of artistic quality.

"he's gone entirely with his heart on this album, no matter how broken it may be... " ALBUM: Kanye West - 808s and Heartbreak words: Jamie Milton Recording all your vocals on an album with a vocoder? What a ridiculous idea. Surely, Kanye West has lost his mind somewhere in the midst of stardom and set-backs. Or perhaps he's the most forward-thinking pop star of our time. Sometimes, to excel, you need to take risks. West had lost the incentive to excel the second 'Gold Digga' [...]

For anyone who's been living under a rock, Kanye's new album 808s and Heartbreak dropped two days ago. Of course, the individual tracks leaked weeks ago - with the first single, Love Lockdown, spinning for over a month now. As is to be expected with pretty much everything and anything Kanye, the album has been polarizing. But, and this is an important but, Kanye ain't shit. Sure, the hyper-use of Auto-Tune on every single track is a little much, but when it's melded with the harsh beat of the Roland TR-808 drum machine, it's something else, [...]
