Whoa, was my last Mixery really in March ?? I'm so sorry. Hopefully this one will be plenty special. For those who don't know, this is the twelfth (lfth at the end of a word seems really weird) iTunes Mixery . Here's how it goes: I play iTunes on shuffle -> tell you which song comes up -> provide the mp3 and a tidbit -> continue until five songs and embarrassment are complete. Again, nothing's off-limits – I don't "fix the mix". Have a look into my life… Sia - "Electric Bird" [...]

Who: We Swim You Jump What : Band from Groningen Germany - guitars, bass, keys, drums and harmonies Formed in 2008, after s inger/guitarist Richard Oosterbaan and singer/keyboardist Niek Verwey's songwriting partnership earned the duo invitations to play three dates in Germany and Holland - the duo pulled in three friends, assumed the name We Swim You Jump and so became five for both live shows and the recording of their self-titled debut ep. Later picked up [...]

I will miss the buzz of the Olympics when it's all done. It might not have felt like winter in Vancouver - especially with the dreadful rain that we're having today, but I do think the Winter Olympics was quite a success. I will particularly miss the free concerts and all those cute orange bikes I that the Dutch keep riding around with across the city. So in honor of the 2010 Winter Olympics, I'm having an Olympic themed post. This week, we have five songs that more or less (some really less) represent some of my favorite countries that [...]

Not surprisingly, this list is filled with EPs by quite a few bands you know and quite a few you probably don't. Of the ones you don't know, many are likely from Washington; a quick count leaves me with five bands, or 1/4 of this list. Many of these bands I consider among the most promising artists to surface in 2009. All are worth checking out, and you'll want to keep an eye on them as we head into 2010. I titled the above image of my cousin Danny [...]

We're now half way through 2009, so I figured it was about time to collect a few favorites from the year thus far. I've put together 10 must-hear albums from the first half of 2009. To alleviate any bias, and because I'm totally obsessed with this style of categorization, I'm putting them alphabetically. A few albums are missing from this list and deserve bonus recognition. I've chosen five artists I find absolutely amazing to list as honorable mentions. Why? In some cases, I haven't had the chance to [...]
Seattle's Amber Pacific has a new singer and they have a new self-titled EP in preparation for (I'm assuming) a new full-length. Yeah, I'm a sucker for pop punk. MP3 | Amber Pacific - The Good Life Amber Pacific EP Val Emmich is a singer/songwriter guy whose crafty pop reminds me Brendan Benson, Pete Yorn, and Rick Springfield. You know, that really catchy poppy sorta shit that should be on the radio but ain't. [...]

This week's fresh, new and exclusive tracks come all the way from a little group from Groningen, Netherlands called ' We Swim You Jump '. They were kind enough to grant me a short online interview, one of the most interesting ones I've had at that, with founding members Niek and Richard sharing their interesting take on the answer to the daunting question - ' What is Indie music? ', as well as their drummer's conspiracy theory involving the Beatles. How do you guys define Indie Music ? [...]

we swim you jump sharks 2009 (française version) Plus tard, je reçois un autre mail.

We Swim You Jump ( MySpace ) produces intricate, intimate pop jems that mix in elements of folk and are populated with detailed orchestration. Despite the powerful music pouring forth from each song on their self-titled EP, We Swim You Jump is dominated by massively forthright, in-your-face vocals. It's not that they're hard-hitting or edgy, they're just ever present when it comes to being the most noticeable element in the song. That would make much of the orchestration subtle. They don't make it easy - you have [...]

Came across this band We Swim You Jump from Groningen, Netherlands that has released their debut EP on Subroutine Records . It is some incredibly well done indie-pop that trends very well into some sweet, savroy melodies and harmonies mixed in with some soft, subtle instrumentation to just be that nice kind of sweet, indie pop. Mixtures of the acoustic guitar with xylophone and bells and harmonies just have a great pick-me-up kind of sound to them. For being a band that seems pretty much brand new (their myspace indicates they came up with they have [...]

Influenced by Elliot Smith, Rilo Kiley, and Loney Dear, Netherlands five piece We Swim You Jump are beginning to make waves in Europe. Well the tides are drifting this way as well. They have a self titled EP full of acoustic pop music that's worth making time for. A highlight track is the Smith-esque "Sparks Fade Out". mp3: We Swim You Jump - Sparks Fade Out
Another week, another mix with lots of new music ranging from electro-pop to country. If you are still partying from the events earlier in the week or are just ready for a great weekend, this music will get you through. Enjoy. Groningen, Netherlands is the home of this 4 piece Indie/Pop band We Swim You Jump . It's perfect for those Fall or Winter nights driving during fresh snow fall. Something that will warm you up more than a cup of hot chocolate. The slight accent in the singer gives it a extra sound that a band from the states could never have. Here are two songs from their self-titled EP. Enjoy and support the band by buying their EP. We Swim You Jump - Sparks Fade Out We Swim [...]
De laatste weken loopt de mailbox van File Under over van de mailtjes van band, promotors en platenmaatschappijen die proberen die de bands promoten die ze komende week op Eurosonic hebben staan. Als ik ze allemaal wil gaan zien, dan...

So, you think the best thing to come out of the Netherlands was wooden shoes, dikes and Amsterdam? Not so fast my friend! We Swim You Jump have released their eponymous EP to great delight around the BFD office since it popped up in our inbox. The debut effort shimmers with pop delight reminiscent of the Doves LP The Last Broadcast, particularly on "Sparks Fade Out." You can get their debut EP here --it's worth it. MP3: [...]
