. Taken from their eagerly anticipated debut album (set for release in the autumn), here is the thumping first single from Whales In Cubicles . Disappear is a song about the fragility and fleeting nature of identity. Set against a riotous backdrop of Smashing Pumpkins -esque guitars and driving drums, it is certainly a pretty big statement of sonic intent from the band. Follow @madmackerel

As we bring you our second slew of our Best Songs of 2012, keep in mind that as the numbers get closer to 1, our decisions were just that ...

London indie rock band Whales in Cubicles have come out with a grandiose video for their new single “Nowhere Flag”. The gorgeous Michelle Williams look-alike is quite upset with the corrupt government of post-modern London, and must take action on her own to fix it. I am so impressed how they were able to film such large locations of the city, and make them seem like a complete wasteland. Even the final climax of the video is done so well, considering big budget antics weren’t involved. The soaring, anthemic track really did deserve a video as [...]
Whales In Cubicles Video for “Nowhere Flag” is just as I imagined it would be. Just as I jointlessly assimilate Flickerstick ’s “Chloroform The One You Love” with the demolition at the end of Fight Club, “Nowhere Flag” falls into the same category for those looking for an ‘explosive’ ending to their video. Our Song of the Week a few weeks back sets their video in stunning empty streets throughout the typically packed London downtown. It isn’t until our blond-haired rebel wanders past abandoned political billboards, a newspaper, some protest signs and a ‘Mass [...]

Whales In Cubicles brings it hard with their new track titled "Nowhere Flag". Set to release the single on August 6th, the band is making waves with their latest single, the third over the course of the last year. With an eerie resemblance in the verses to Nada Surf's Matthew Caws, WIC match up quite well to the notorious indie bands of the 902s and early 002s with their romping choruses and flush guitar chords. There's lots to love about these guys. See more Whales In Cubicles on Facebook | [...]

By Chris Gedos Whales in Cubicles are that rare new band with unanimously good material across the board. They smash the prerequisites: 1. Songs which grab hold and refuse to let go 2. Running the emotional gamut of pain, humor and sexuality 3. A display of technical consistency and a comprehensive musical language. These Londoners have a North American anthem in “Across America” and an instantly memorable lick in “Nowhere Flag.” It’s interesting how they use nostalgia, looking back to the best of mid-90’s alternative radio [...]

Newly signed to Young & Lost Club , London rocksters Whales in Cubicles recently announce themselves with two-faced single You'll Never Win : initially weathered and understated, it finishes in a brash, punkish fit of pique, all hot and bothered. Check their Bandcamp for news of imminent gigs. [There is a video that cannot be displayed in this feed. Visit the blog entry to see the video.]

- JANUARY 19TH AT THE OLD QUEENS HEAD // OH! INVERTED WORLD'S 4TH BEEDAY // WHALES IN CUBICLES + WILDE + SAMUEL DESCHAMPS- Whodda thought we'd make it to a whole four years old! Probably not us who started Oh! Inverted World when drinking with the thought process that this would allow us to have an amazing party with our friends every month with the artists that we love. And probably not theOld Queens Head either who took the chance on us four years ago despite a complete lack of experience and any organisational prowess. O!IW [...]

The art of political song writing has seemed to fade away since its most influential time during the 1970s & 80s Punk era through the likes of The Clash and The Sex Pistols, but new single We Never Win by Whales In Cubicles, is a finely produced track that very much mirrors the agony and frustration felt at a time where society is feeling the pressure of a crumbling economy and a controversial government, very similar to the conditions present in the 70s & 80s.
