Jack Tatum's Wild Nothing is back with the follow-up to his 2010 LP Gemini . His sophomore release is titled Nocturne and was recorded by Tatum while living in Savannah, Georgia. "Paradise" demonstrates just what we can expect from the new album. It's an atmospheric, synth-fluffed jam centered on a hazy, rainbow colored melody. Jenn Wasner of Wye Oak is releasing her second 7″ single as part of a series for her Flock of Dimes side project on Merge Records next month. "Curtain" is the single's a-side. Wasner described the lyrics as documenting "the thoughtless, obsessed joy of new love." On August 28th, Wild Nothing will be releasing its latest album, Nocturne, on Captured tracks. While the band can certainly be lumped in with many others chasing after a dreamy pop rock sound, these guys certainly set themselves apart with their memorable songwriting and distinctive hooks and verses. I'm loving the extra instrumentation on this track, too. The strings are a very nice touch, adding to the usual levels of ecstasy coming off a Wild Nothing track. Wild Nothing, is the solo-project of Jack Tatum whose debut full-length album, Gemini , is out this week on Captured Tracks. This is dreamy synth pop done up in a cool shoegaze glow with an ethereal certainty likely to deliver you back to a time when there weren't a zillion indies but you could count on a few to always be awesome.
