Wild Nothing , fresh after releasing Nocturne - one of my favorite albums of 2012 - are back with a brand new EP: Empty Estate , which Captured Tracks will release on May 14. It's a 7-song EP that they recorded in Brooklyn this January. "A Dancing Shell" is the 802s inspired slow-paced synth-jam that is heavy on the cool nostalgia tinted funk. Take a listen below.

Wild Nothing have released a new video for their song, " Paradise " which stars Michelle Williams, the indie darling of the film Blue Valentine , staring Ryan Gosling. Wild Nothing popped into my view at CMJ 2010; Jack Tatum ’s dream-pop project played a lot of shows and then some more during that festival, which made it easy to see them at least once. After "Shadow" , Jack Tatum has released another track off of the upcoming  Wild Nothing   album, Nocturne , called " Paradise " that features the band's signature beach-y, sunny, and warm sounds. The track has a sneaky way of making you feel like you're living in the 80s or maybe watching the closing credits of the Breakfast Club (or any John Hughs film, for that matter), and its fantastic. Now I've never been one to jump on new albums the second they come out. That's mostly because I'm fairly lazy and don't keep track of when certain things are actually being released. Wild Nothing somewhat recently released their second album Nocturne  under Captured Tracks. I wasn't too excited to jump right on this album because I can still groove to their first album Gemini released in 2010. On August 28th, Wild Nothing will be releasing its latest album, Nocturne, on Captured tracks. While the band can certainly be lumped in with many others chasing after a dreamy pop rock sound, these guys certainly set themselves apart with their memorable songwriting and distinctive hooks and verses. I'm loving the extra instrumentation on this track, too. The strings are a very nice touch, adding to the usual levels of ecstasy coming off a Wild Nothing track. It's been a couple of Summers since Wild Nothing were on the scene, soundtracking beach trips and road trips and pool trips and acid trips, the latter of which I have no proof of. There's that definite sound to the band's music, the lush, genial, opaque sound of Summer that's laid back and carefree.  Some bands try to pull it off and fail miserably, presumably because they're trying to do it, whereas Wild Nothing manage to do it with ease because it comes naturally.
