For an artist as prolific and ambitious with his output as Mount Eerie , it's perhaps a surprise that's it been over two years since his last release, Wind's Poem . Well thankfully Phil Elverum is back with this improvised-like little gem. The track, " Distorted Cymbals ," will come out through K Records as a 7″ on February 7 th . Hear it at K Records' Tumblr .

mp3: Mount Eerie - Ancient Questions [Daytrotter Session] Last October I had the privilege of seeing Phil Elverum perform his downright blackmetal-at-times LP Wind's Poem at Diamond Junction Bowling Lanes in Palmer. Illuminated by the glow of a Big Buck Hunter console, he performed the album along with backing from No Kids, two drummers and Tara Jane O'Neil. It was cramped, it was noisy, it was beautiful. Phil & co. just recorded a Daytrotter Session yesterday. [...]

My favorite album of 2009! Mt. Eerie's Phil Elverum Mount Eerie - Wind's Poem. I love everything about this record. I think Phil Elverum is a genius songwriter and producer. He's Spector, he's Eno, he's Rodger Bain; he's his own daring and inventive beast. Wind's Poem speaks the sonic language of black metal, of Naturalism and of the Pacific Northwest; the album unearths melody from murkiness and mystery, it carves out shapes in storms, it cuts [...]

Has anybody else been listening to Wind's Poem ? It's the new album from Mount Eerie , or native Anacortan Phil Elverum. Taken by its elegiac, methodical march, the beautiful behemoth has me cradled in its giant palm. I'm compelled to kneel before some sort of Dark Lord and succumb to his intoxicating assurance of malevolent glory. Elverum the auteur might argue that there is no Dark Lord other than the blustery gusts of wind he's chosen to exult in this ode to the atmospheric force. The record, predicated on [...]

This review took forever and it's another loooong journey but I think it worked out. Props to Phil E. for coming up with something so inspiring. Awe-inspiring, even.
I've done two interviews with Phil Elverum, and he's been a perfect gentleman each time. I'd chat this guy up any day, but I actually did this interview for a reason: he has a new album out.Wind's Poem is the LP, and this is Elverum's loudest album yet. The brazen walls of distorted guitars and drums might surprise some Eerie fans, but this is all elementary to Phil:"Well, I came of age during

Mount Eerie Wind's Poem ( 7.2009, PWE&SUN ) Verdict: Best album of all time. So, I guess I should explain the verdict. You see sometime last year I tried to compile a list of my fav albums of all time, and resting comfortably in the number one spot is Mr. Phil's The Glow Pt. 2 . I pretty much listened to that album at least 5 times a week between ages 17-19 and even till recently if you asked me what's my favorite album, I'd easily reply The Glow Pt. 2 . [...]
Under Wind's Poem, Phil Elverum--a.k.a. Mount Eerie--has come out with one of his most abstract albums to date. Folk and pop have always played a role in Elverum's recording projects; keeping the music grounded and acessible. However, this LP takes things in a different, darker direction with the sounds of drone, ambient, and black metal music. It's a bit of a departure, but the music's mood
Between Dawn, Lost Wisdom, and White Stag, Mount Eerie's past couple releases have been, well, quiet. Maybe it had something to do with frontman Phil Elverum's jaunt into the sounds of hardcore on Black Wooden Ceiling Opening, which was an ear-splitting surprise.Whatever it was, it sounds like Elverum will be getting back into his usual studio trickery on August 18th with a new LP, Wind's Poem.

Mount Eerie's last record Lost Wisdom was a haunting yet beautiful trip through lead songwriter Phil Elverum's moods and aural landscapes. For that outing he enlisted the fantastic voice of Julie Doiron who added a perfect compliment to the album. The ever prolific Elverum returns August 18th with Wind's Poem , which constitues Mount Eerie's 3rd proper record. The album promises "A hundred kinds of distortion, oceans of synth, and clouds of bass [as] the elements these twelve songs are built from, with moments of clarity [...]
The new Mount Eerie album will be called Wind's Poem and is due Aug. 18. WIND'S POEM comes on double clear vinyl in an old-style gatefold jacket with bronze foil stamping and a pull out lyric poster, or on CD or digital. Mount Eerie will be touring in a full band version all over [...]
