Songs: Ohia - Lioness Do you know how Eskimos take care of a wolf problem? I heard this in a sermon illustration in middle school. What they do is dip a sword or machete of some sort into a bucket of blood. Then they let it freeze. Then they dip it again. They repeat this until a thick coat of blood builds up around the blade. Then, at night, they stick the sword, hilt-first, into the snow and go to sleep. The wolf'll come by and sniff blood and take [...]

Tyler, the Creator and his Los Angeles based crew Odd Future is a modern day rags to riches story. With his debut Bastard he launched onto the scene with a darkly energized DIY production, and angry, shocking lyrics that tapped ... Continued

Tyler, The Creator’s success has always depended upon how many or few people take him seriously. Depending on one’s stomach for his shock-and-awe tactics, opinions ranged from favorable to dangerous, but that’s the only thing that mattered in catapulting Tyler to success: that people actually took the time to form an opinion about him at all. Call his raps tasteless or whatever, but he’s the first rapper since pre- Relapse Eminem to smartly exploit our thirst for sensationalism through Hip-Hop. And on his second studio album, Wolf , he creates an interesting paradox: he might [...]

By Ryan Lake April 18, 2013 Typically difficult, Tyler, The Creator made it clear that there would be no leaks of his latest release, forcing people to form their own opinions of the album upon release. After two years of waiting, Tyler is able to maintain the darkness and brash profanity that made both Goblin and Bastard intriguing, whilst improving the quality of his production as well as his list of featured artists (including here Erykah Badu ). Tyler, The Creator - Wolf Odd Future/Sony: 2013 Tyler, The Creator has made a career for himself in entertainment based on a psychological game of chicken he plays endlessly with his viewing public. Our fascination with the kid and his Odd Future cohorts began with 2008’s The Odd Future Tape , a half-baked serving of scattershot verses that failed to determine distinct personalities between members, but succeeded in introducing America to the heinous juvenile antics of a skateboard-loving, Supreme cloth-donning crew of Los Angeles rap misfits. Since that fateful release, the rap [...]

North London four-piece Wolf Alice are certain to see their star rise in 2013, certainly if they continue to conjure up tracks that are as charming and brilliant as Bros . While not as boisterous with the guitars, they have that whimsical energy that helped put Joy Formidable on the map. Describing childhood antics between best friends, its sentiments hit home and sit alongside the music with wonderful cohesiveness. Heading out for a UK tour through May and June, this is a band to keep an eye [...]

Likely the biggest release last week in the hip hop circles wa s Tyler The Creator's anticipated Wolf , and with some initial first week numbers now rolling in, it looks like upwards of 90,000 units have been sold. As Potholes nicely puts it, the initial source quoting these numbers - Hits Daily Double - ar by no means official, but are well-reputed to get these things pretty spot on. Regardless, Tyler's plenty happy about it...purchase Wolf via i-tunes here . [...]

While they're not perfect, the folks at Hits Daily Double are usually pretty spot on when it comes to their sales numbers. And they are now reporting that Tyler, the Creator's third full-length, Wolf , will move upwards of 89,000 units in its first week. That is clearly not bad at all for the young rapper-producer, who was projected to sell around that amount. Just to note: that 89,000 is nearly double what Goblin , his sophomore effort, did in its first week. This amount will give Tyler the No. 3 [...]
Whether it is solo or as part of his Odd Future it seems Tyler, The Creator is unable to sit still for a minute. In the buildup to the recently released 'Wolf' album Tyler dropped a video for "IFHY", continuing his streak of ludicrously brilliant vids. Having just proclaimed (rightfully) to be "dope as fuck" on [...] The post Weekend Videos: Tyler, The Creator - "IFHY" (feat. Pharell) appeared first on Cougar Microbes .

It's a Tyler, the Creator week! Wolf is definitely a journey into the life of a brat, someone who really does not give a f***! Can we call Tyler a shock jock or a rap force to be reckoned with? Wolf , his third solo release brings the return his usual cast of characters - his inner therapist Dr. T. C. (Tyler's Conscience) and his partner Sam , and the alter ego Wolf Haley . While still touching on [...]

via themaskedgorilla.com Wale and Tyler added another chapter to their fairly public Twitter rift last night, when Wale proclaimed his new video for "Back to Ballin" would be the video of the year. Tyler responded by subtweeting that the video wouldn't be video of the year, so Wale did his best Tyler impression and tweeted about how awful the video was, just like Tyler did for his album Wolf, which dropped on April 2nd. Tyler seems to find the whole thing pretty funny so I wouldn't expect this beef to escalate any time soon. Just [...]

Now that Tyler, the Creator's long-awaited third album, Wolf , has been out for a day and a half, we're already getting some first-week sales projections. It's expected that the record will move upwards of 85,000 to 95,000 units, which is nearly double what his previous effort, Goblin , did in its first week at 45,000. The projection arrives courtesy of Hits Daily Double , a site that more often than not is spot-on with stuff like this.

Words by Matt Yau Last year, a sizeable stir was created when London four-piece Mt. Wolf released their debut EP Life Size Ghosts; and with the new Hypolight EP now glazing ears around the country, the hype is only ever going to swell. The opener eases you in with a poignant track that sounds like it could have come off a Daughter album; the subtle composition allows Kate Sproule to take control of the track with expressive vocals that leave you pensive. Life Size Ghosts may [...]
And so here we are: it's 2013, and we've another potentially incendiary album from the enfant terrible of rap. Gone is the beef with Tegan and Sara and the furore surrounding his exclusively misogynistic lyrics has died down somewhat, allowing us to focus on Tyler, The Creator's purported purpose – the music itself. Opening with the fanfare of Wolf, our 'Creator lures us into a false sense of security as Marvin Gaye-like vocals and soulful piano greet us. For a moment you'd be forgiven for thinking, 'Ooh! He's grown up! This may [...]
