So, it's that time of year. 2011 has seen many interesting developments in dance music. For starters, it now fills the charts, with Guetta's new album plastered all over the top 40, again... Skrillex now seems to be regarded as the best thing since sliced bread, with 5 grammy nominations. Justice have returned, eventually, their album having a different kind of look, some may call it prog. rock, nonetheless it's a very enjoyable listen. My tip for next year? Garage. The Woon gets his grubby remix claws into Lana Del Rey and roughs her up into a stylish and sultry RnB lick. And who wouldn't want to do that? I'm sure she usually scrubs a bit better than this but the smack-head chic is a good look for haloween. Dereliquete. Download through the Soundcloud player. Lana del Rey x Jamie Woon Ik vind hem zo toffer dan het origineel.

If you're a 6music fan I'm sure you'll be at least vaguely aware of the lovely dulcet tones of miss Lana Del Rey . If not, you really need to give Jamie Woon 's reworking a listen. It stays largely faithful to the original, incorporating the kind of abstract beeps and whistles you may have come to know and learn from Mr. Woon's debut album 'Mirrorwriting': The vocals become disjointed and the effect created is not unlike the confusing mental state between waking and sleeping. The original can be found [...]

The web has been buzzing with hype about Lana Del Rey for a few months now, and whether you think she's a manufactured star or a self-developed artist, its been impossible to avoid her break through track 'Video Games'. Video Games is a beautiful melancholy song that shows off Lana's bluesy voice. It has that rare ability to make you stop in your tracks and listen to every note. Surprisingly in the hands of crooner Jamie Woon the track becomes a different beast with a grimy dub baseline and screwed vocals. And it really works. [...]

England native Jamie Woon has had a busy life of late with remixes, tours, and albums, all culminating to an unfortunate Achilles tendon tear. A nicely put together video of Jamie Woon's performance at The Phoenix. In addition to the performances there's also an interview with Woon as well. Definitely worth checking out, just to see the dude perform live.

I’m thinking about changing my name from Monster to Mana Del Rey. Lizzy Grant proved that going through a seemingly insignificant name change can make you a much more interesting and discussed person. Never mind the weird inflated lip thing, controversy over where she came from, or the fact that she actually has some measure of musical talent. None of that has any relevance here. It’s all about the different name. So when Lizzy swapped out her boring old birth handle for something shiny and new, the career (and scrutiny) of Lana Del Rey began. With [...]

Jamie Woon ("Night Air") has turned up a dope remix of the track "Video Games" from Lana Del Rey . He chops this up well beyond your average remix and has created a digital haunting vibe. The pitched down and layered vocals just add to what was already an amazing track to begin with. Now it just has more substance. Enjoy.
