Unfortunately, the conclusion of a music festival means the inevitable return to reality! While, myself and others attempt to recuperate in between 9-5 work days, I think we should make an equal effort to apply some inertia to this process by listening to this year's stand-out artists and headliners. Enjoy the remainder of the week, and prepare for your next festival adventure! 1. Original post: Governors Ball 2013: Festival Wrap Up, Ft. MS MR, Cold War Kids, Kendrick Lamar + More [...]

For The Key’s year-in-review, we asked our trusted sources – our writers and photographers, XPN’s on-air staff, fellow bloggers in the Philly scene and even a few musicians – to send us their Top Five Whatevers. Could be the traditional music route – albums, songs, concerts of the year – or it could be only ... Continue reading
The Raveonettes' newest single, "She Owns The Streets," was by far the most played and downloaded track on IRC in September, trailed by the second most popular song of the month, "Angels" by The xx. Other top singles of the month, in order, were the swaggering horn-laced romp ,"A Little Revolution," by Firewater; the sassy [...] Read more, get songs or stream the entire mix on Indie Rock Cafe

With all the craziness of music blogging, from concerts to press releases to interviews to festivals, it can be hard to find time to sit down, listen to an album and give it an honest, thorough review. With that in mind, we came up with the Reviews Roundup , a way for us to look back at all of the major releases in the past month and give them an on-the-spot review. Whether we like them or not, we'll spout out a quick blurb about the album to give an overall impression of what makes it good or bad [...]

Praise flannel! One group of rockers who found initial success in the '90s succeeds another on the Billboard Top 200, as Dave Matthews Band 's Away From The World bumps Matchbox Twenty 's North off the top of the chart this week. DMB's latest sold 266,000 copies out of the gate — nearly four times the amount (95,000) M20 debuted with last week . North has now been bumped down to #8 after adding another [...]
True fans of music spend countless hours searching for that next great song, album or artist, whether it be online or in a local record shop. The beautiful thing about music in today’s age is that technology has created an infinite supply of great music that is available to us at the click of a mouse. How perfect is that? We can discover a brand new artist on the opposite side of the globe in seconds without a radio or a music television channel. It only makes sense that a website so dedicated to this gorgeous universe of music would [...]

First up, the long-awaited second album by The xx is potentially KEXP listeners' album of the year. While it's but one of a number of hotly anticipated this year - others come from Dirty Projectors, Animal Collective, and Grizzly Bear - The xx strip down their sound to a sultry murmur, like a whisper in your ear. Oliver Sims and Romy Madley-Croft never sounded [...]

When you arrive in Manchester, Tennessee, you know you’re at Bonnaroo . The heat hits you like a ton of bricks, if those bricks were each tiny little suns. The heat this year was the worst that it’s been in a long time, even with the near constant threat of rain, which fell on Wednesday to make for a muddy Centeroo. But after nine years, we’ve come to expect the mud and the heat. They’re hallmarks of Bonnaroo. And even though some people didn't expect this year to live up [...]
