Throughout the course of my life I have not been what you would call an R&B listener. A brief history of my dabbling: I owned a cassette copy of Boyz II Men's II because who didn't? A year later I nabbed Mariah Carey's Daydream on CD, mesmerized by the tree swing party that was the "Always Be My Baby" video . I bought What's Going On during that formative music geek phase when you plow through any and all "greatest albums of all time" lists (a ritual that blurs the line between the [...]

After a surprising ascendence, The xx learn to balance sensibility with popularity. The xx is spread out across two circular wooden tables in the drab lunchroom of Music Bank, a large warehouse in an industrial ... read more

"This has been our first week of shows for two years", says Oliver Sim as he glances over coyly at the packed Grand Hall of Battersea Arts Centre, "so you might have to bear with us." Since 2010, The xx have cemented themselves in the public consciousness as a force to be reckoned with. To say they’ve exploded would be an understatement, as performances at Coachella and Bonnaroo and a Mercury Prize win have demonstrated. But that was two years ago and since then, the musical landscape has shifted quite seismically. The group’s distinctive brand of dreamy R&B [...]

Young Drizzy getting down. #YOLO
STS has been dropping all sorts of teasers the past few months in preparation of his project Goldrush , and admittedly we haven't been paying too much attention. With that said, we are not getting down to the bottom of the project here with its official release, and we thought it was about time to give Goldrush some shine. On the tape, expect to see STS ripping all sorts of other artist's songs. My personal favorite being the XX's "Shelter". Click here to download Goldrush .

We're probably the last people on the Internet to have anything to say about Drake 's now month-old (counting its initial full leak) Take Care , which really has less to do with any serious Drake-hate emanating from these parts of the Web as much as it does the exhaustion from even thinking about having to sit through an entire album revolving around whatever too much money/ too much fame/ too many women issues Drizzy is moping about now. Sure, the man is always good for a verse that's more clever than [...]

Here is this week’s music singles chart for the week ending November 20 -26. This week's #1 goes to Toronto's The Wooden Sky with Angelina from their City of Lights EP. Angelina is a nice great folk rock song from the band and a teaser on what to expect on their new album in 2012. There are three new debuts including Drake and Rihanna , Toronto's First Rate People and Little Boots . Check [...]

Tweet Listen to "You Da One" by Rihanna below, from her album "Talk That Talk" . We're now only a week or so from the release of Rihanna's new album "Talk That Talk" and in anticipation for the release there are a whole host of interviews, reviews, song-snippets and album leaks doing the rounds. A few days ago we had news of [...]

Just one year after releasing the sizzling "What's My Name?" in October of 2010, Drake and Rihanna have teamed up once again for another incredible collaboration: "Take Care," the Jamie Smith ( The XX )-produced lead single off of Drake's upcoming studio album of the same name. Though his most popular tunes tend to be big, bossy rap tracks like "Over" and "Headlines," Drake truly proves himself a true innovator with his unique brand of spook-R&B, including the masterfully moody "Marvin's Room" from earlier this year (which resulted in JoJo 's [...]

Tweet Back at the start of 2010 The xx spoke about how they'd like to work with R&B soul-sister Rihanna , either on a recording or performing live with her like she did with Klaxons at The Brit Awards in 2008. Post-Dubstep points out that according to ASCAP and the Wikipedia page for Rihanna 's upcoming album [...]

Tweet Listen to Drake 's new song "Take Care" below, produced by Jamie xx and featuring Rihanna . Tonight, via radio rips we were given not one, not two, not three, but two new songs by Drake , both featuring artists I enjoy a whole lot more than I enjoy Drake . On the track "Crew Love" [...]

Fucking mega. Drake via Jamie xx via Gil Scott-Heron. Give Drake a hand for going for something somewhat less predictable at this point in his career. Get this shit on the radio. We need NEW Drake songs. I can only slow headbob that "She Will" shiz so many times. Drake - Take Care (Feat. Rihanna) BONUS: Drake - Lord Knows (Feat. Rick Ross) (Prod. Just Blaze) Drake ( Official ) ( Twitter ) [...]

It looks like laptop aficionados are getting a lot more creative with their full-length remix records because the latest effort to pop-up online, a mix of Wu-Tang Clan and Fugazi , could be the best one I've heard yet, and not just because I'm a rabid Fugazi fan. The project, cleverly titled Wugazi , has released two singles, but an entire album is due out in a week or so. And of course, it's titled 13 Chambers . Between this project, the James Blake/Drake mash-up LP, [...]

Click image to download track Sounds like: Drake, Aaliyah, The xx "The Weeknd - Rolling Stone (Tate La Rock & DJ Troublemaker Remix)" What's so good? In compliance with the relatively recent trend of foregoing any association of new music one has created with pre-existing labels, the masterminds behind this dance-ready remix call its genre "pantystep." The duo of DJ Troublemaker and [...]
