Although I'd personally rate 2011 as being on a higher level musically, there was still lots of great new stuff coming out in 2012, from all across the musical spectrum. I've tried to represent the diversity of that in this list, which features aspects of house, garage and rnb in one form or another all under the future garage umbrella, and shows a lot of cross-pollination between all of them. In no particular order, here are five of my favorites. Happy 2013! [...]

And the fabulous Jamie xx is back with another remarkable edit of The xx. This time he has remixed 'Sunset' off The xx's sophomore album, 'Coexist.' In this edit, Jamie xx's minimal soundscape encapsulates the original like a sparse blanket - providing it with some dancey warmth, but ultimately leaving it as it was. He produced the track, after all! It seems that a lot of his work shows a theory that less is more, and we couldn't agree more! His signature style has really blossomed recently, so if you haven't checked out his other remix of the song [...]

Well, ninjas, here we are. This is the last Friday of 2012, and I feel that I should do something a bit different. Since this is a pretty epic weekend, leading into an epic NYE, I feel that I should provide you with an End of 2012 Mega Party Playlist. What all does that entail? Well, I'm going to choose some of my favorite CFPP tracks of 2012, and blend them in with some new party tracks, and give you a neat little package of a rage-all-weekend playlist that will keep you going long into NYE. How does that sound? [...]
20. Here at Upside Sounds, we have been following Oxford for a while now. Having won the remix contest for Housse de Racket's song "Aquarium" earlier this year, he's arguably one of the most promising, nu-disco producer on the scene right now. If you still need to be convinced, look no further than his sensational remix of Goldroom's track "Fifteen!" The kid pulls out all the stops on this one, turning the original into something noticeably more funky and easier to dance to. Having added a potent concoction of synthesizer love to the mix while accompanying [...]

The xx , arguably my favorite band of all-time. I love their originals. I love remixes of their tunes. I love their live performances. I honestly love everything about them and I think all of you guys do too. To show my love for them, I've dedicated this post to their sensational bonus track titled "Reconsider" and have joined it with this amazing remix by Whomi of one of their classics "Crystalised." What I like to call an "XX Extravaganza," both these songs should remind you of why you love the XX so much and keep you forever [...]

I think it would be safe to say that since our last visit onto Panic City ’s long and colourful runway, Mr. P.C. has gone under a complete transformation to not only push his own sound further than the length of the cosmos and the space that exists between the seen/unseen, but he has managed to give that hint of underground mystic and aural-delicacy uniqueness that can only be found inside our imaginative inner bounds. Leading the way through a curiously titled Marky Mark ode, producer Panic City digs deep into his sample bank of surprises [...]

After throwing a show with Goldroom this weekend and partaking in St. Louis' Halloween festivities, I have to admit...I'm freaking beat! On days like this, I usually try to keep my music selection more downtempo and this edit from Forrest , who is one half of Prince Club, is fitting my exhausted state quite well right now. Completely free for download, all of you guys should be relaxing to this track this Sunday!

We know! We know! We know! You guys are probably saying, "Aren't you the guys that made fun of producers for remixing any new track the XX came out with?" Yes. Yes we are. But the reason why we were making fun of these producers was based off the fact that they were releasing unofficial remixes of XX that literally came out the day of. Seriously, they must have only had a few hours to work on them. It totally made them appear as if they were just trying to ride off the hype of the band was accumulating at [...]

Two of the newest members of the Chrome Kids family have their debut single out via Push & Run on Monday, complete with cover art from our very own SnowSkull. Getting much love for their ShadowBox remix and The xx bootleg , Bodhi are already two of our favourite producers (and DJs after their killer set last Friday) currently making noise out of the Welsh capital and lovely fellas to boot.
O ver the past few weeks we have seen a vast influx of remixes of The XX's new single Angels . Few of these remixes compare with the depth and allure in this latest remix by San Francisco's own, Shiny Objects (AKA Chris Smith). Smith who is the founder of the deep, disco, funk record label 'Smoke N' Mirrors' has recently decided to delve into the world of producing. After playing his Shiny Objects rework of 'Angels' out at a pool party in San Francisco and receiving great praise, Smith decided to release this killer track [...]
