In a statement published on their Facebook page, The XX have announced that their second album Coexist , the follow up to 20092s XX, will be released on September 10th in the UK and September ... read more

Good looking people are running around breaking hearts everywhere, none more so than in the music industry you and I both love. With the internet, came Google images and easy access to promo shots becaming nothing more than an expectation from fans (nb: that's not a factual account of how it all happened). We all yearn to know the faces behind the songs we lust after, dance along and headbang to but are we finding ourselves swooning over the music or the faces behind the magic? Here are 10 magicians that have got me [...]

"This has been our first week of shows for two years", says Oliver Sim as he glances over coyly at the packed Grand Hall of Battersea Arts Centre, "so you might have to bear with us." Since 2010, The xx have cemented themselves in the public consciousness as a force to be reckoned with. To say they’ve exploded would be an understatement, as performances at Coachella and Bonnaroo and a Mercury Prize win have demonstrated. But that was two years ago and since then, the musical landscape has shifted quite seismically. The group’s distinctive brand of dreamy R&B [...]

As you may know, The xx have been working on a new album for a few months now. Back in December the trio sent out this lovely demo called "Open Eyes" , and just a few days ago they announced some European tour dates . Last night, in one of those show in London, the band played a new song. At first it sounds like one of the xx's more sparse tracks (something along the lines of a Romy Madley Croft-fronted "Fantasy" ), but then out of nowhere come [...]
Back in 2009, The xx wowed everyone in ear shot with their somber and sexy debut album xx. Since then, the group's beatmaker, Jamie Smith (otherwise known as Jamie xx) has been making an arguably bigger name for himself, dropping the stellar "Far Nearer" 7", along with a top shelf selection of remixes and a [...]
After taking all of 2011 off, Mercury Prize winning trio the xx are making their big return to the stage in less than a fortnight. The band––which has been working on a follow-up to 20092s XX for a while now––has announced several European shows (mostly festivals). Is it safe to assume a brand new xx album is coming this summer? Maybe! Check out the dates below: Continue reading: The xx Announce First Shows of 2012 Read more articles like " The xx [...]
In a recent Young Turks takeover of Australia's FBi radio cast, Jamie xx premiered the latest incarnation of "Touch Me," a steel drum-led song we first heard about a year ago , but back then it featured vocals from one Yasmin . The Londoner unveils a new track.

New glimpse of Jamie xx solo material. Last night Young Turks had a takeover of Aussie radio station, FBi, and in it they premiered "Touch Me." It's a direct successor to "Far Nearer," only because both songs heavily use steel drums and it is very, very hard to make songs featuring that instrument sound differently. The devil is in the details. Check out the track for yourself, buried in the mix at 49 minutes in. ( Fader )
At about 49 minutes on the embed below, the xx's sonic architect, Jamie, shares the latest iteration of his by now practically patented steel-drummed/florid-house dance music. There's a disassociated vocal sample offering instruction in rhythm, there's the reverberating sounds of an island getaway and tropical cocktails, and there's the underbelly of a mid-tempo beat for reasonably paced shagging. Hear it, along with a mix from bandmate Romy, and other Young Turks treats, in this

This week the Young Turks label have taken over Sydneys FBI Radio for an hourly installment every day. They are in Australia touring with the national Laneway Festival that is spruiking many acts from their roster including Glasser, Bullion, SBTRKT, John Talabot and Chairlift. With three of the segments down a number of exclusives have already been played including new material from Jamie XX , Bullion and even a mini-mix from Romy XX. The never-heard-before instrumental from Jamie surfaces on the Tuesday show about midday through. Having [...]
julian-james : Radiohead - “Bloom” (Jamie XX Remix 3) It’s a slow build but this remix really comes to life around the 5:30 mark. Catch the entire Caribou and Jamie XX set for Boiler Room here. Watch Definitely worth the wait of the building and breaking. Incredible work from Jamie [...]
Jamie xx is, it would seem, a true perfectionist. The xx's producer has already released two remixes of Radiohead's King Of Limbs track "Bloom," and now there's a third out there. His latest take on the track is about eight minutes long, and it's closer to a straight-up dance track than any of his previous attempts. Stream it below. Read More...
It is somewhat poetic that 'We're New Here' would turn out to be Gil Scott-Heron's last release before he sadly passed away in 2011. In a career where he distinguished himself for confounding expectations it felt like the tracks from 'I'm New Here', his triumphant comeback album from 2010, where ripe to be quoted, sampled [...]
In case you forgot (or care, for that matter) British producer Jamie xx is a part of a band. There's a reason he tacked the "xx" onto the end of [...]

XX offers a teaser with new, very minimal demo track. XX- "Open Eyes (demo)" -mp3

The xx are dropping a new album in 2012. They must have felt pretty festive as they've put this, a demo of a new tune, up on their website for free download. No word yet as to whether this will feature on their next release as the accompanying message was, er, brief: “Open eyes is a demo we did whilst creating our new album, we just wanted to share it with you. xx The xx”. With Animal Collective & Grizzly Bear also prepping new albums for release next year, 2012 [...]
