If you like your music talked over and barely-listenable, then boy do we have a treat for you tonight! So far from The Great Gatsby soundtrack we've heard The xx 's "Together" and Florence + The Machine 's "Over The Love" , but tonight, tonight we bring you a doozy. It's Beyoncé and André 3000 's cover of [...]

We all might be a little tired of The Great Gatsby trailers. And the couple of tracks they've released from the soundtrack have kept us guessing. Sure, Young Hov is executive producing, so you're expecting nothing but Roc Nation and Jay-Z-associated tunes. But this recent drop from The xx is an offbeat surprise. "Together" sounds like The xx, too, right off Coexist , which is good. Jamie xx’s signature production stands out from the rest. A haunting cowbell riding the beat, with synth violins underlying Romy and Oliver's sorrowful, breathy purrs make [...]

Last week we got a taste of the forthcoming star-studded Great Gatsby 's star-studded soundtrack in the form of Florence + The Machine 's gorgeous "Over The Love" . And now we've got The xx 's "Together" : one of their most gorgeous and intimate tracks to date, as they incorporate a string section(!!) into their signature minimal production and icy boy-girl vocals pairing. See for yourself. The soundtrack is set for release on May 6th and will include more original music from [...]

Baz Luhrmann's adaptation of The Great Gatsby stars Leonardo Dicaprio and the god Amitabh Bachchan and features a stacked soundtrack , executive produced by Jay-Z. It's an OST notable for injecting contemporary aesthetics into a Roaring '20s backdrop, which we've heard via original contributions from Florence + The Machine and Lana Del Rey and now the xx, who hew close to their golden ratio of one part girl, one part boy, all parts sultry and tastefully skeletal production. There are strings in here, too, for added cinematic effect. It is good, enjoy it: [...]
How about some new material from The xx on this hump day? You won't find us making any complaints, and nor should you, as we [...]
Bit by bit; piece by piece; blog post by blog post, we're getting a pretty transparent picturing of Kisses' unimpeachably sprightly sophomore recording, Kids in LA . First came The Hardest Part ; then Huddle and now, as the anticipation hots up over their imminently Cascine-released endeavours, the duo comprising Jesse Kivel and Zinzi Edmundson turn us onto Air Conditioning. Perhaps the most progressive of the three unveiled thus far, there's an icy, unmistakably '80s electropop aesthetic palpitating away at its core as Kivel impersonates an unprecedentedly jovial Oliver Sim atop a glacial backdrop composed of [...]
Making the rounds around the blogosphere yesterday was Mount Kimbie's new single "Made To Stray," to be included on the artist's debut album for Warp, [...]
Similar to the complimenting dual lead vocals of Romy Madley Croft and Oliver Sim of The xx, the talented duo of Belgium's Float Fall (Rozanne [...]

Norwegian producer King Knut is most widely known as the producer for Foreign Beggars and The XX (in their early days). What you may not know is that he has recently branched out into solo productions, drawing on influences as disparate as 602s psychedelia and classic R&B. His new EP 'King 462 is a chirpy, upbeat collection of late-night house, sprinkled with elements of trip-hop, latin vibes and the aforementioned psychedelia and R&B. This really is a music nerd's record; one that will have die-hard music fans pouring over each and every [...]

Hundred Waters are a quartet from Gainesville, Florida whose soft combination of organic and electronic attracted the most unlikely of label bosses, superstar Skrillex . Members Nicole Miglis, Trayer Tryon, Paul Giese, Zach Tetreault, and Allen Scott played together in various formations as friends back in middle school, but it took until adulthood and 2011 for them to become Hundred Waters. Living together in one house meant the band had a communal mentality, yet over time, a unique technique of the five members recording and composing on their own was developed, and [...]
" Finally " is a gospel-inflected house anthem from the New York producer Kings Of Tomorrow; it was a minor hit in the UK in 2000. The xx, who continue to have excellent taste in covers, tried the song out on a live BBC Radio session yesterday, effectively translating the original's steamroller of feeling into something tense and small and intimate while keeping some of its dancefloor pulse intact. The xx cover is absolutely lovely, and you can hear it below. Read More...
Putney's primary monochromic miserablists The xx seem to be a more or less permanent fixture in the BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge – they're in as often as Edith Bowman most probably. Alas, they were absent when we were in a couple weeks back, but they were again present and correct for the umpteenth time this year last night as they uttered dulcet mumbles and transmogrified Kings of Tomorrow's deep house classic Finally into a smouldering, typically reverb-sodden, though atypically upbeat romp. I tend to veer clear of the trio's unorthodox versions – their take on Last Christmas is something [...]
Shoving your cellphone digits right up on your Facebook page has always been deemed a brazen move, though for an artist with as much irrepressible allure as Los Angeles songstress Banks to do so is spunky in the extreme. 'If you ever want to talk call me', she writes and if Before I Met You be any valid indication, then I'll bet hers is the sort of smoke-caressed voice you only converse with in the death of night in seductive dreams. A vivid conflation of CocoRosie obscurity, obdurate Madley Croft sulk and Jessie Ware smooth, it's as [...]

Rinse FM 's DJ Oneman has announced the impending release of his first unaffiliated mixtape entitled 'Solitaire Vol. 12. Among many other delights, it features his recent remix of The XX 's 'Chained' which he's also chosen to unleash upon the internet. For a good couple of years Jamie XX held the record for best XX remix for his reworking of 'Basic Space', but now it seems Oneman has taken that mantle from him. Giving a 90s house-meets-garage edge to The XX's hugely popular new single, Oneman's edit takes the track [...]
