Oh, the brooding. The xx won a Mercury Prize for their self-titled debut in 2010, and they continue to go strong with melancholic atmospherics on their the sophomore record "Coexist" (out now via Young Turks). Young Replicant, a/k/a Alex Takacs, also returns as director for clip accompanying the xx's track "Fiction" to further illustrate Oliver Sim and co.'s foray into dark beauty. Sim stares off into the distance in a house where his bandmates sleep and the pool's reflections bounce in tandem with the song's beats only to be drawn out to the woods for some extreme swaying. "Fiction" [...]

Take a listen to The xx' s contribution to The Great Gatsby soundtrack , in the form of "Together". The song appears alongside other original compositions from Florence and the Machine ( “Over the Love” ) and Jay-Z (“100$ Bill”), a cover of Amy Winehouse’s “Back to Black” by Beyoncé and André 3000, and a Bryan Ferry cover of Beyoncé’s “Crazy in Love”. Beginning May 7th, the soundtrack will be available digitally and as a 17-track deluxe edition exclusively at Target. A 14-track physical version will also be [...]

The xx have hardly been strangers to cover songs — and varied ones at that! — taking on artists like Beyoncé , Nicole Ray and even Wham . They continued this tradition at a recent stop on BBC Radio 12s Live Lounge Late, when they performed their own rendition of the 2001 classic house track "Finally" by Kings Of Tomorrow. As expected, the low-key English outfit trade in the original track's frenetic, uptempo stylings for a darker, more sultry and slowed-down ambient soundscape. Check out the cover below.

This morning a strictly limited number of tickets to The xx shows in Melbourne on April 4th and Sydney on April 7th have been released. Tickets in Perth and Brisbane are also selling fast. Also announced today is that Sydney duo Jagwar Ma will be joining The xx as support act in all cities. Considered by NME as "one of the best new bands in the world”, the duo will hit the dance floor in all cities, warming up audiences with their singles "Come Save Me" and "The Throw". In theUK, the 'The Throw' premiered on BBC Radio 1 as the 'Hottest Record In The World" and the US Fader quickly followed stating "It's like DFA record, Matthew Dear and [...]

It's not a proper Valentine's Day until The xx sings. Wouldn't you know the UK collective deliver just the sugarless treat with their minimalistic cover of Beyoncé' s "I Miss You" (via Pitchfork ). The ultra shiny, new performance was shot at Austin's The Moody Theatre on Tuesday night amidst their current tour and pits Romy Madley Croft against Oliver Sim in one powerful duet. So, if you've got a bag of Hershey's Kisses at bay, start watching the ruby-glazed clip below - tissues optional. In related news, The xx recently announced [...]

The news is surprising to many, as Sonar has cultivated and maintained a reputation as the world's most progressive electronic music festival. A petition has already been created [...]

In a sense, Kid Smpl's remix of The xx's "Fiction" demarcates the logical furthest extent of the London trio's vision. It's made up almost entirely of infrequent, out of breath kicks, melancholy keys and atmospheric found sounds. Rommy's vocals are pushed so far into the mix that they almost operate as random found sounds and the beat (when there is one) is as airy and atmospheric as they come. Without expectations, Smpl has crafted an effortlessly beatific night time anthem that achieves more with less and might remind some listeners why they fell in love with The xx in the first [...]

The xx' s resident producer Jamie xx recently added a new twist to Coexist' s "Sunset", tacking on three more minutes of looped drum beats, guitar echos, and all the other ambiance trademarks of The xx. Take a listen below.

For those of you who aren't HUGE fans of all that authentic Christmas music, or maybe it just gets old by the time Christmas actually arrives...this one definitely focuses on the electronic aspect applied. It's the xxMAS Rework by TABS of The xx's original rendition of Last Christmas . The xx's version is just a little bit too "Christmassy" for me. I'm one of those who grows tired of Christmas music early. Sorry, not sorry. Either way this is a refreshing rendition to a Christmas classic. If it doesn't get you [...]

Ohmyxx. The xx are clearly in the holiday spirit of giving because today they are giving us so much. First, the band did a cover of my FAVORITE Christmas song ever, "Last Christmas," by Wham! While my longtime favorite version of this has been the Jimmy Eat World cover (and I swear not just because it was on the O.C. Chrismukkah Soundtrack...), I think even 20-something Seth Cohen would approve of this new version. ALSO, The xx released a three-part documentary featuring some performances and some behind the scenes glimpses. Directed by Jamie-James [...]

The xx celebrate the holidays with a left field cover of Wham' s "Last Christmas". This morning, the UK outfit stopped by the BBC Radio One Live Lounge , where they performed Coexist single "Chained" and George Michael's breathy Christmas classic. Jamie xx, Oliver Sim, and Romy Madley Croft make this one of the better Christmas covers, especially through their trade off vocals, romantic synth work, and intimate bass lines. Check it out below (via Fake Walls ). In related news, the band recently stopped by BBC Radio 2 [...]

John Talabot and Pional collaborated on a eight-and-a-half minute remix of The xx 's sparse track from Coexist , "Chained". The "Blinded remix" takes its cues (and a beat) from the Streets song "Blinded by the Light" . Hear the two pump some life into The xx's track below (via Pitchfork ). Photo by Summer Dunsmore

Ok, so this genre is called Death Electro . I just want to mention a disclaimer...just because the genre says 'death' doesn't mean anyone has to die...and if by some freak accident that turns out to be the case...I apologize. Here we have a remix thats goes a little harder than most. It's a lot to take in on a Sunday, but it'll get you pumped for any HBO & Showtime sunday premieres you like to take part in, like me. The original version of the song is by The xx and it's called Reunion . [...]

John Talabot's masterpiece, "Fin," early release in 2012 didn't catch my attention till much later this year upon the recommendation of one of my friends here in Denver that literally has both ears to the ground. I'm not sure why these two gems didn't make the cut, but here they are in all of their splendor. Talabot will be touring the US next month and two of those trips will be here in Colorado. The xx show is way sold out, however, the Denver show at the Larimer Lounge still has tickets available. Head over [...]

The British electronic soul diva JESSIE WARE is certainly making quite the splash and impact with her beautifully crafted and well presented debut album Devotion . The new single 'Night Light' is like Florence Welsh ’s voice crossed with The XX and with a video evoking the best bits of Lady Gaga . The video is the wonderful work of artful director Chris Sweeney , whose work has become quite the favourite to many bands in the ever growing English indie music scene. His work is [...]

The xx and Four Tet together in one place - yes it's as good as you want it to be - go on, dig in.

Prior to yesterday's performance with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, The xx debuted Four Tet' s new remix of the Coexist opener "Angels" on BBC Radio. While the original was wide and desolate-sounding, this reworking sounds more quaint and approachable, with the flutter of random synth noise filling the vast stretches of air. Take a listen to the recording below (via Self-Titled ). Jaime xx indicated the song would be released shortly as part of [...]
