I loved the intimate setting of The Tiny Desk Series to showcase acts such as Miguel  and Alt-J .  The xx are the latest band to stop by NPR to perform two songs for their own session. Singing "Angels" and "Sunset," The xx's sounds echo through that tiny space so fully, you can feel their vulnerability. p.s. We've seen various videos of The xx performing live, and consistently killing it, but none in as intimate a setting as this. For this episode of NPR's Tiny Desk concert series (previous guests include  Miguel who came through with a sparkling, personality-filled three track set), two thirds of The xx run through stripped back, percussion-less versions of "Angels" and "Sunset," just reminding everyone how brilliant this band are in a live setting. The folks over at NPR Music have a pretty good gig going for them. Not only do they make a living of this music stuff, but they occasionally have incredible artists come through and do private concerts for them. This time is was The xx, sans Jamie, hot off the release of their impressive sophomore album   Coexist .  Romy and Oliver can handle themselves just fine without percussion, as they casually breeze through understand versions of " Angels " and " Sunset " with ease. Solange invites Oliver Sim of the xx and Dev Hynes to "Make It Hot" Nicole Wray-style in London.

Last night at London's XOYO, Solange put on a hell of a show, at one point inviting on stage Oliver Sim of the xx for a rousing rendition of late 90s rnb jam "Make It Hot." Last night, Solange Knowles took on the stage at London's XOYO and brought along The xx 's Oliver Sim, with whom she has bonded with "over [their] love of 902s and 20002s R&B," for a lovely cover of Nicole Wray's "Make It Hot." Last night at Solange 's show at XOYO in London she wasn't content with killing it already that she had to bring out The xx 's Oliver Sim to provide vocals on a cover of Nicole Ray's 1998 R&B jam that featured Missy Elliot . Check out the subdued, laidback, black and white version of one of the late-902s best R&B tracks (original below too), with Oliver dropping some near-spoken-word lines and singing along to the chorus.
