Rolling Stone pays tribute to Beastie Boy, Adam Yauch, with this month's cover of Rolling Stone. The unexpected passing of Adam shocked the world and more importantly his close friends and family. Rolling Stone caught up with the other Beastie Boy members to get a real feeling of where they go from here. Brian Hiatt examines the many lives of late Beastie Boy Adam Yauch in the new issue of Rolling Stone, on sale May 25th. The story looks back on Yauch's extraordinary career and remarkable [...]
The late Adam "MCA" Yauch wasn't just a beyond-skilled and influential rapper. The founding member of the Beastie Boys was also a gifted bassist, filmmaker, and, in the case of this post, journalist. Many of likely know that he had a close relationship with the Tibetan people, something that's highlighted here in his interview with none other than the Dalai Lama. If it's too difficult to read due to the smaller size of the photograph, just zoom in and it'll be an easier read. Enjoy. Huge props to Babylon Falling for scanning [...]

It's the most fitting tribute you can do to a music icon, who helped innovate a genre, reinvent a culture and bring a legacy to music which will never, ever be forgotten.

Adam "MCA" Yauch (1964-2012) Hey folks, as I'm sure you've heard by now Adam "MCA" Yauch of the Beastie Boys passed away on Friday of last week at the age of 47. I was shocked and saddened to hear the news, 47 is just too damn young, no matter who you are. Though I hadn't been a fervent fan throughout their career, I've enjoyed the Beastie's music and I respect their accomplishments as a band. I certainly remember the dawning of MTV and what a huge impact "Fight For [...]

The Beastie Boys - Shake Your Rump / Hey Ladies (Remix) Tweet
As someone who grew up with the Beastie Boys constantly playing on MTV, the group was one of few who left an indelible mark on my listening habits over the years. Growing up in Kentucky where the genre of choice was largely country music, the Beastie Boys essentially served as my transition in to real hip-hop. Ad Rock was the wild, party guy and Mike D always seemed like the more intelligent, laid-back member of the group, but MCA was just cool. He was always so confident in himself, giving off this energy that he was who he was and [...]

When I heard this morning that Adam Yauch of the Beastie Boys had succumbed to cancer, it hit me hard. I didn't expect it, and I was surprised by my reaction. At first. There were the obvious reasons-Yauch was only 47, too young to die, and yet another reminder of our own mortality. Then there was the fact that it was cancer, a horribly ugly disease that the National Cancer Institute projects will claim the lives of more than 575,000 Americans in 2012. The more I thought about it-and, of course began to play Beasties songs [...]

Photo by Steve Appleford Adam Yauch , aka MCA , of The Beastie Boys has died. He was 47 years old. The Beastie Boys represented the first hip-hop I ever truly loved. It was manic, goofy, fun and completely different than anything else out there. Here was a group of guys who had fun in every music video they made, every concert they performed, and who had been doing it since 1979. I fully expected them to be making albums well into their 902s. It's sad to think [...]

Photo: Sam Christmas Adam "MCA" Yauch, founding member of the Beastie Boys and hip-hop pioneer, has passed away at age 47. Back in 2009, Yauch announced that he had been diagnosed with lymph node cancer. Reports would later surface that Yauch had defeated the disease and was cancer-free, but an official conflicting statement released later asserted “while I’m grateful for all the positive energy people are sending my way, reports of my being totally cancer-free are exaggerated. I’m continuing treatment, staying optimistic and hoping to be cancer free in the near future.” Though unconfirmed, [...]

Beastie Boys' Adam 'MCA' Yauch has died, according to TMZ . The Brooklyn native was 47 years old. In July 2009, Yauch revealed he had a cancerous tumor in his left parotid gland and began undergoing radiation therapy.
