I must admit my Muffin friends, I had a harder time than usual coming up with a year-end list this time. There was a LOT of good music that was put out in the '12 (does anyone even say that? Like, "Man, I haven't been back there since 'twelve." I don't think they do. Oh well, f*ck the police.) and my obsessive listening habits took me to all ends of the musical spectrum. I'll keep it short and sweet for you as I know you want to get to the jams on the ASAP, so without further ado, my favorite [...]

Oh YEASAYER we love you. Not only have you just released your brand new album, Fragrant World , to worldwide critical acclaim. You’ve also decided to give away a couple of vinyls away for the loyal Purple Sneakers readers. It’s all just too much. If you haven’t had a chance to check out Yeasayer ’s latest full length, we’ve already given it the Sneakers review treatment . But just to fill you in, it passed with flying colours. In our own words, “In [...]
Yeasayer ’s third album is here and, true to form, there are impassioned, earnest vocals yolked with some surreal and unsettling musical touches. Whereas on All Hour Cymbals this worked almost without fail, Fragrant World seems to be lacking at times thanks to that very same technique. Some parts are sublime (the demented brass on ‘Fingers Never Bleed) and some are just terrible (‘No Bones’…all of it). The album starts strongly if a little inward looking, insofar as the band are clearly aware of their idiosyncrasies and at times it sounds as if they [...]
Filed under: News , New Music , Exclusive , RPM Anna Palma Yeasayer are taking listeners on another voyage into the sonic unknown with the release of their third LP, Fragrant World . "I wouldn't say this album is particularly rooted on earth," vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Chris Keating tells Spinner, "because we are constantly trying to find things that sound weird and new to us." While their 2007 debut [...]

Though they have a new album on the way, Yeasayer recently found time to remix Gotye' s lesser known track "Eyes Wide Open" . The Brooklynites transmogrified the cut into a truly methodical beast, utilizing lots of quirky bleeps and bloops while manipulating and mutilating the Aussie crooner's voice to build an otherworldly and ultra-groovy soundscape. Stream it below (via RollingStone.com ). In case you missed it, you can stream Yeasayer's new album Fragrant World here .
So we're coming in to the back end of the year and it's absolutely insane how much fresh new music is about to be released. It is mental. (ordered by date of release) The Killers - Battle Born - July 11, 2012 The Antlers - Undersea - July 24, 2012 Passion Pit - Gossimer - July 24, [...]

Tweet Yeasayer are set to release a follow-up to 20102s Odd Blood LP, a SGTMT office favourite. Fragrant World LP has got a lot to live up to; Odd Blood was a heady mix of proper pop songs with a dark underbelly. More of the same please, what are the chances? The band say that with this record " We definitely try to capture the schizophrenia of what it’s like to be alive today ". [...]

Bypassing normal channels of distribution, Yeasayer perhaps knew their new material would inevitably end up online so they posted physical copies of their new song 'Henrietta' to some mailing list members and waited. Will at We All Want Someone was one of the bloggers who made it available to the world. 'Henrietta' continues on from the band's Odd Blood era with tight pop production informed by spacious bass notes, refracted synths and uplifting vocals. It bodes well for album 3.

Yeasayer fans recently on their mailing list recently received a CD version of their most recent release, "Henrietta." The track should be part of the band's upcoming release, but finer details of it aren't known. If there is an album in the near future, it'd be the first since 2010's Odd Blood . Listen to the new track below.

Yeasayer is hitting the road this summer (hopefully in support of a new album). In the meantime, enjoy this brand new diddy, "Henrietta", which just recently surfaced online...only after the band mailed out CDs with the track to their devoted mailing list fans (you can sign up for said list here ). p.s. big thanks to weallwantsomeone.org for putting Henrietta up on soundcloud! don't be low, seek and find ♫ Sinkane - Jeeper Creeper Ahmed Gallab is Sinkane. The fact that Ahmed Gallab is also in Yeasayer and has played for Caribou and of Montreal is irrelevant now because this music is Sinkane's. You can hear exactly why those bands want him as his Sudanese upbringing has clearly informed his sound with a bit of magic. Dreamy floaty guitar and drum music that gets a little psychedelic and a little chillwave-y both both in the best senses. Artist links: Facebook / Twitter / Amazon

Alternative experimental rockers Yeasayer have just premiered a new track, "Devil And The Deed", live on Conan. Chris Keating has described the new phase the band is transitioning into as "life after the buzz". After receiving widespread acclaim for their innovative second record Odd Blood , the Brooklyn collective were catapulted into the mainstream. What do you think of the new track?

Yelle has called his Temper Trap remix one of her favourites. This Brooklyn based musician is multi-instrumentalist and an all round remarkable producer. He has recorded and released two critically-acclaimed solo albums to date (”Pink and Purple” and “Babies Dream Big”). Oh and he has created official remixes for Yeasayer, RJD2, Phoenix, The Temper Trap, Phantogram, The Very Best, Shwayze, and many more. Meet my new favourite, Alan Wilkis. Now, I just love Fenech-Soler and when I got Wilkis's remix of 'Demons' I was in heaven. It [...]

Who needs a gift wielding loved one on Valentines day when you can have a free EP from Brooklyn based music monkeys Yeasayer? This little nugget of EP goodness features ‘I Remember’ from their album ‘Odd Blood’, plus a couple of remixes of the track. As well as being one of the better tracks off a sometimes blood pumpingly amazing and at other times mediocre album, ‘I Remember’ combines contemporary arrangements with [...]
A pair of new remixes of Yeasayer's latest single, "I Remember," by Painted Palms and VILLA.
I had vowed to stay away from any Valentine's Day related posts today but this little bit of love from Yeasayer is too adorable not to share. To celebrate this day of ooey, gooeyness, the band have released the new video for their song 'I Remember' off their latest lp, Oddblood. The band reminds their [...]

How is it the end of the year already? It seems like just yesterday I was proclaiming my love for Dirty Projectors, The xx and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. Okay, not just yesterday , but you're picking up what I'm putting down. The two ten was kind to me in terms of music, a lot of good albums found their way to my 'pod and I had the chance to see more shows this year than I ever have before. So what did I listen to this year? It was all over the place (see 'Hizzy') but [...]
