My top ten for the year, with a brief explanation/comment. Enjoy & Happy New Year! ...... 1. Grizzly Bear – Shields The guys in Grizzly Bear killing it, once again. This record is almost perfect. The compositions are strange & beautiful, and they complement the haunting singing styles of Ed Droste and Daniel Rossen. If you didn’t get this album – you missed (but there's still time!). Check Out: Yet Again [mp3] [...]

If you don't love or at the very least respect Fleetwood Mac I don't want to know you. Music magazine, Mojo, is including a copy of cover album, Rumours Revisted with their January issue. When looking at the tracklist the two I was interested in hearing are the two you can preview below and since I'm in control of this post that's all you get. Julia Holter does all sorts of amazing with "Gold Dust Woman," she is a talent-google her on the internet. Yeasayer stays slightly more close to the style of Fleetwood Mac in "Second Hand [...]

The Brooklyn-based indie quartet People Get Ready officially formed towards the end of 2009 and their self-titled debut reflects the familiar sounds of being stuck a few years behind. Maybe they sound like a Yeasayer and Dirty Projectors hybrid because the band features a former Yeasayer member as well as a former touring guitarist for David Byrne , but this record shows a young band wearing their influences on their sleeves, which makes for a forgettable experience [...]

During a recent conversation I had playfully discussing the kind of music that you would want to hear as you “die on the dancefloor”, we were mentioning a few bands, but none came as close to the harrowing, oft-brazen sounds of the latest from the Brooklyn trio, Yeasaye r . With their patented off-kilter percussion and saturated bass, they have created an album for the end-times, without much preamble. Their previous records- the freak-folk All Hour Cymbals , and the playful Odd Blood - poised them as an experimental, [...]
Yeasayer and Gotye seem like a match made in heaven. So it only makes sense that the biggest world music band in indie would want to remix the Aussie's second biggest song, "Eyes Wide Open". Listen to the new remix below, and don't forget that a very special album, Yeasayer's Fragrant World, drops [...]

No, Yeasayer didn't remix "Somebody That I Used To Know," as annoying/awesome that would have been. Instead the Brooklyn freak pop trio tackled Gotye 's less ubiquitous new single, "Eyes Wide Open." They essentially take the crisp, galloping original and turn it into, well, a Yeasayer song. Something that would not have been out of place as a bonus track on their upcoming album, Fragrant World (which is streaming online right now! ). [...]

I have to admit I don't like the opening 10 seconds of this song. But you should never judge a song in 10 seconds, right? And this one spirals out into a wonderfully uncontrollable sound dappling between acoustics, vocal harmonies and electronics which kind of makes me think that this is what some kind of mash up/brain-child of Yeasayer , Animal Collective and Sujan Stevens circa Age of Adz would sound like. It's a grower for sure, each time round you catch little details that you haven't heard before and you end up piecing [...]

Following up the surprise release of a track called " Henrietta " last month Yeasayer are keeping the momentum, they've announced a new album Fragrant World and a tour to support it. So what's next? Track two from the album that's what. Titled "Longevity" the band have released it with a video accompaniment that you can "take drugs too". Their words not mine! Fragrant World drops on August 21st via Secretly Canadian.

Last month we brought you 'Henrietta', the ruturn of Brooklyn three-piece Yeasayer, who are following up their brilliant 2010 album Odd Blood with this year's Fragrant World . We said of 'Henrietta': "It’s a pretty icy pop song, cold slabs of synth and chilled melodies sit alongside beats. It’s very good to have them back..." Well now we have more! 'Longevity' continues the group's near perfect record for crafting wonderfully wonky RnB. There is something incredibly removed about it all, not necessarily a bad thing when you're dealing with robo [...]

As always, there are "liner notes" after the jump with more information on each track. You should also be following us on 8tracks so we can share mixes [...]

In a surprise fan treat, Yeasayer has released a new track, "Henrietta," to all fans signed up for their mailing list; they even sent out surprise physical copies to a few random fans. Now, the general public can also hear the new tune. "Henrietta" was performed a bit on their 2011 summer tour. The band says the track is inspired by Henrietta Lacks, who will 'live on forever' (a lyric repeated in the refrain) because a doctor culture her cells in the '50s without her consent and these are now the [...]

After we got to hear the beautiful new track " Henrietta " from Yeasayer the band have now announced (Via Under the Radar ) a brand new album, Fragrant World. Brooklyn's Yeasayer have been hinting at a new album, and today their mailing list received another great reason to get excited. "Henrietta" is a funky, atmospheric, '80s-indebted jam. The tune features some memorable moments, like a keyboard breakdown and a fantastic build-up to the conclusion. Yeasayer heads out on a short tour this summer (dates below) and we definitely hope to hear more from them soon.

What say you to some new Yeasayer ? We All Want Someone To Shout For points towards a brand new track from the band titled "Henrietta". Apparently the song appeared online after the band posted out physical copy to members of their mailing list. Pretty sweet deal huh. Check it out below and let us know what you think. Pretty groovy in my opinion, definitely getting a little boogie on while I type this. Note that results may be different for you and no dancing may occur just as a heads up.
